Just thought I'd let you know I have been having frequent FTEs using American Eagle high velocity in my M&P 22c. Remington Golden Bullet and CCI Mini-Mags run with out any problems. As soon as I try American Eagle (AE), I can't make it through one magazine without problems. The AEs also feel weaker than the CCIs and GBs. I just purchased 500 rds of the AEs and although they say "high velocity" there is no information on velocity on the box. In fact, the AEs really feel like standard velocity. I sent a note to AE and will let you know if I get a response. The lot number is AE5022. Has any one else had problems or success with AE 22LR?

All my 22 autos have brands of ammo they don't like my M&P FS 22 is real picky but feed her what she likes and she is one sweet shooter. Don

I gave up on AE HV ammo about a year ago. I have the same issue you have in all of my semi-auto 22LR guns/rifles including:
M&P 15-22
M&P 22
Ruger Mk1 pistol

The Remington stuff sometimes will FTF but at a lower rate than the AE FTE. I used up all the Remington and only use the AE in my 22 revolvers. I have plenty of CCI mini mag and Fiocchi HV which both work flawlessly.

I will say that I had one Armscor round in 1000 that literally blew the brass case apart but I never had a FTF or FTE with the Armscor stuff.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I will have to buy a 22 revolver. I'll let you know if I get a reply from Federal.

Hummmm, for what it's worth we have 2 m&p 22 FS pistols and I bought 2 bricks of AE 38gn hp copper plated HV so I didn't have to burn the stash of mini-mags. One pistol is finicky and will jam occasional on anything, the other will eat the AE without any issues.

Both bricks were purchased just before the 22 insanity. I wonder if QC went out the window when they were making millions per day.

Interesting.... If I can get to the range tomorrow I think I'll try the AEs in my M&P 22 FS.

I tried another box yesterday. Basically made my .22 compact into a single shot. They have been off my list for a year or so, but found a box and decided to shoot it. I needed some jam training (yeah).

The whole federal / AE rimfire .22 line has gone down in quality the last couple of years, as I see it.

I follow the advice that reliable semi-auto cycling in .22 LR requires 40 grn bullets with a velocity of 1250 FS +.

Lighter bullets/slower speeds produce problems in many 22's.

Hmm .... according to the Federal website the AE 22LR I was using are 40 grain with a velocity of 1250 fps.
I really find that hard to believe as they were noticeably softer when firing - to the point that it occurred to me there was no way the gun was going to cycle immediately after pulling the trigger. In fact I thought maybe they were defective or improperly loaded rounds.
