I have been going out Hog Hunting a few times with my S&W 500 6.5" barrel. Unfortunately so far, no kills, but we are getting closer......ok I bought two very different types of rounds for hunting and Im not sure which would be better for hogs. The first round I bought is a 375gr bullet dual jacketed bonded bullet that does just over 1700ft/sec. (this is my favorite due to a higher weight and still VERY fast) but...I now have some Barns Expander rounds....rated at over 1800ft/sec but only weigh in at 275gr. I know "only 275gr" for the 500 thats light but for any other weapon its heafty. Im thinking this round may give less recoil (have not shot one yet) but I cannot imagine much of a difference......Any thoughts to help me decide?

IMO, use the heaviest, slower bullet. You will need something that has DEEP penetration to get through the shield - stay away from hollow points.

i have used handloaded 350gr and 400 gr jacketed hollowpoints..i recall the 350 gr were speer bullets under 40 gr.of H110...with proper shot placement i would say either of your listings would work just fine...

Hogs!? Hogs?! What is this thing....we don't have no stinkin' hogs. Well, a few that go 600-700lbs and wear shiny black coats...
