I sell them at the LGS I work at, Blazer brass and PMC Bronze seem to function in them the best, and as for SD ammo Hornady Crirical Duty without a doubt.

Good luck

Pete

Critical duty +P or no +P? On midways site there is a clearance sale and a savings of $6 per box.

Why mid level target ammo.........?

SD ammo comes with just enough fps to have the bullet open up or not...........
To QUALITY ammo that expands and penetrates to FBI spec's
that can save your life.

Heads or Tails ?

For practice use any of the less expensive fmj ammo made by the major companies. Win, Federal, Remington, Speer, Fiocci, PMC, S&B.

^^^^This

I was shopping on-line last night and Natchez has Spear Lawman for 12.49/box of 50. If I was buying, I'd get a case of that. Even cheaper was Blazer Brass for 11.99/box of 50. If you're shopping on-line, you need to buy a case to keep the shipping cost per round reasonable. Either one of those are good choices. Bottom line - look for deals and buy a case when one comes around. Personally, I think the Spear Lawman hits your mark of mid range target ammo.

124gr standard pressure seems to shoot closest to point of aim from mine.

Right now it's loaded with 100gr Powr' Ball +Ps which is probably not the best load for the gun. They shoot quite low at 25 yards. But they are low recoil, reasonably low barrier penetrators (home defense gun), and feed 100% due to the FMJ profile.

A good self defense ammo is Gold Dot for short barrel.
I'm sure there are others but the Gold Dots work, I've seen the after effects.

since i don't want to shoot up what little bit of powder & bullet's i have. i shoot win-fed-pmc-cci for practice. i load my mag's with hornady's critical defense when the weather get's colder and speer gold dot short barrel in the summer. either the hornady's or the speer sb will do just fine they both shoot point of aim but if i had to shoot just one it would be speer sb. my s&w shield is one of the most accurate compact handgun's i have ever shot and i have shot a lot of different manufacture's handgun's hope this help's safe shooting :)

Many times, I use whichever Brass cased (my Local range doesn't allow Aluminum and Steel) 9mm ammo I can find at WalMart. Federal Champion (maroon box) and Remington UMC works best in every single pistol I own (including my PF-9).

For SD... Speer 'LE' Gold Dot, Remington UMC JHP and Winchester SXZ (Bass Pro's exclusive?) work reliably in every single pistol I own, including (again) my PF-9.

I do buy online IF the Online price PLUS Shipping is less than what I can find on WalMart. That's the trick. Go online to the various vendors (Freedom Munitions, Target Sports, Ammo-To-Go, etc) and sign up for their email lists. When they offer Free Shipping, or a discount large enough to offset shipping charges, go for it. Otherwise, get to be buddies with your local Ammo Monger (Sporting Goods Manager) :)

X2 Tough to beat case pricing on individual boxes at Walmart. I think 99% of the time you won't beat online pricing, and don't have to lay out so much cash at one time.

In Texas I buy the Monarch brand FMJ ammo or a 100 rnd box of FMJ Winchester from my local Academy store. Never had any issues with these in my M&P shield 9. For SD I choose Hornady critical defense.

Gold Dot or HST in 124gr for HD/SD. I'm sure Critical Defense / Duty is fine, I just prefer to use what our local police use.

Almost anything for plinking and target shooting.

My Shield eats pretty much everything with gusto.

I'm partial to the 124gr+P iGolld Dots immy 9mm carry guns.,Of course Glocks will digest almost anything, but my Kahr PM9 also likes them.

I went looking for ammo at two large sporting goods stores and
was not impressed with their prices.
Even the cheap Blazer throw a ways were $13.99 a box.

Will make a trip to Wally world for a final price check, before
pulling out the wallet. I just want the box but added brass is
always nice, since I load ammo.

I've found that the local stores prices are always a bit high. I purchase most of my ammo online.

I've always carried Speer Gold 124gr +p in my Glock 19 and CM9, although I just recently squired some HST 147gr +p so I will testing that as well for my new Shield.

As for range ammo, I would go with others have mentioned. Any brass cased from major manufacturers would be gtg. I ran American Eagle, Blazer Brass, Aguila, Winchester white box and Speer Lawmen and it functioned perfectly with all of it.
