At least things seem to be coming back

that works out to $.75 per round. Seems pretty typical for todays pricing. Not a bargain and certainly to 2020 prices but - - -

I'm gonna wait it out, I believe things will get back "close" to normal. But I don't shoot like most you you guys do.

Local Academy had the following today during lunch:

  • CCI Minimag 22LR ($11.99 / 100)
  • Blazer and Federal AE 9MM in various weights ($17.99 -$18.99 / 50)
  • Federal AE 38SP 158LRN at $26.99 / 50
  • WWB 5.56 buk packs at $119 / 200

The 38SP was nearly gone, but they probably had over 200 boxes of 9MM on the shelves, and the 5.56 has been there since last week. Certainly no bargains compared to pre-Covid, but not as insane as other places. 2-box limit.

And on the subject of insanity, another guy there was buying 9MM at $18.99 to resell to his LGS (about 150 miles away) at $25. The LGS has it priced at $40 -- and is getting it....

No, I don't find it reasonable. When 9mm FMJ gets back down to 50c/round, I'll think about buying some. Until then I'll sit on my stash and shoot sparingly.

So, this guy drove 150 miles (300 round trip) to buy 2 boxes for 18.99 to sell at $25 each. With tax and all, he is making maybe $4-5 per box, $8-10 total. Wonder how much he spent on gas? Someone needs to teach that guy how economics works.

I gathered he was traveling for other reasons (work?) and hitting stores along his route scrounging for ammo. Didn't fit the usual profile of the retired guy waiting in line for the store to open. In fact there were only two other people there looking at ammo when I was there.

On my way home I stopped by a WalMart I pass everyday and they had the same mini-mags at $7.89, along with Federal auto-match 325 bulk packs at $17.99 (this is pre-Covid pricing for this store, which has had empty shelves since around last August).

First, South Jersey is a rather large area, can you at least narrow it down to a county?

Is that $15 for 20 rounds of 9mm FMJ ball or some form of self-defense ammo?

Thanks!

When the price comes down to $.27/round I plan to start replacing what I have been shooting for the past year. It will have to get down to about $.20 or maybe $.22 before I start stocking up. Metal prices have risen so we may never see it quite as cheap as it was in 2019. I am not going to hold out for 2019 prices.

Saw a couple of 300-round packages of CCI Mini-Mag 36 gr. CPHPs in an Oregon Bi-Mart yesterday for $23. Not super cheap (about $3.85 per 50), but not gouging either. This same store had some Blazer Brass 9mm a while back and it was the same: not gouging. I appreciate that!

Wife and I purchased, combined, four boxes of 9mm on Saturday at a local NW small chain store. It was Blazer Brass for $12.95/box. Limit to two boxes per customer/day. They received a shipment of 9mm, .40 acp, and 45acp. All was gone by afternoon, we just happened to go to town and "luck out" to the shipment. Not all places are gouging.

Darkenfast mentioned the store first- Bi-Mart, a NW chain store, similar to WalMart, only much smaller. Right now, it seems one of their stores gets ammo on maybe a tri-weekly schedule. The store never knows when ammo might show up, never know which town. A real **** shoot, but even a blind hog finds an acorn sometime.

Earlier today I missed out on the last box of 9mm - 200 rds for $100. Never thought I'd see the day when 50 cents a round for 9mm was a good deal.
