I noticed in the updated rules, #7 was highlighted saying no wadcutter ammunition. When they refer to wadcutter....do they also include semi wadcutter? I load 200 LSWC and if that is a no-no now....I need to stock some 230 RN or FP.

Ammunition: No high speed or Magnum ammunition
will be allowed. Ammunition must be loaded to
produce sufficient velocity to pass through the target
AND the backer. Shots which do not pass through the
target and the backer will be scored as misses.
1. Open Class Revolver: Either hand loaded or
factory loaded ammunition may be used.
2. Distinguished Revolver: Must be from a licensed
manufacturer, new issue, .38 Special, round nose
or semi-wadcutter ammunition.
3. Stock Service Revolver: Either hand loaded or
factory loaded .38 Special ammunition may be
used. No wadcutter ammunition is allowed..
4. Off Duty Revolver: Either hand loaded or factory
loaded ammunition may be used. No wadcutter
ammunition is allowed.
5. Open Class Semi-Automatic Pistol: Either hand
loaded or factory loaded ammunition may be used.
6. Distinguished Semi-Automatic Pistol: Must be
from a licensed manufacturer, new issue, full metal
jacket, semi-wadcutter, jacketed soft point, or
hollow point.
7. Stock Service Semi-Automatic Pistol: Either hand
loaded or factory loaded ammunition may be used.
No wadcutter ammunition is allowed.
8. Off Duty Semi-Automatic Pistol: Either hand
loaded or factory loaded ammunition is allowed. No

I would say SWC is legal since it isn't specifically mentioned, but I would seek a referee or chief referee decision on your ammo. Be sure to bring some RN as insurance.

MKT, I knew you would come along. I agree to but was looking for confirmation. Correct me if I was wrong...did service ammo used to be factory manufactured ammo?

I am thinking about switching to 45acp because of the bigger hole and I am having difficulties finding a tried and true NINA round.

I have loaded 3.5 of N310 and 200 LSWC at 1.250 with very good success and even though its below advertised load....the bottom end load still has some snap....I guess because of the N310 burn rate. 3.5 is still snappy but very accurate out of my Colt.

with the sun behind my back and all free hand...I shot a 496/500 out to 25 yds last year Oct. I also fitted a new barrel bushing on my Colt (havent tried it yet) as the Kart bushing was a little loose for my taste.

How do I contact a referee for confirmation?

Wadcutter 45acp ammo has a semi wadcutter profile, so I would think that you might have a problem getting it past the ref's. I know a referee and will contact him.

Referee says he doesn't see a problem, but suggested I call NRA HQ to see what they say. Stay tuned for more info.

I think they just dont want someone showing up with a model 52,or 1911 wad gun,now that they have changed the sight rule for for stock semi auto.Semi wad has been allowed in all the revolver matches no reason to think it would be a problem in stock semi auto match.

Here is the reply from NRA LE Competitions:

"The various ammo specifications were changed in 2010 to eliminate all the special ammunition and different bullet types folks had to buy.
Under NRA Police Pistol Combat Rule 3.16 covering for allowable ammunition, there is only one prohibition for Stock Semi-Automatic Pistol ammunition and that is that wadcutter ammunition is not allowed. All others, including semi-wadcutter that you mentioned are OK and ammunition can be either factory or hand loaded."

Now, if they will stick with this and not change their minds between now and the Nationals is anybody's guess.
