So I've been looking online to try and buy some ammo in bulk since its hard to find good prices here in NJ. I have been shooting with Federal 40gr Copper Plated and I've been having trouble finding good places with stock in that type. I have found a couple places that have the HP but I'm not sure if thats allowed at my range, I'll have to ask tomorrow.

But either way what does everyone shoot and what kind of prices are you paying?

I'm basically looking for something relatively cheap with good reliability and not gunk up the gun so much that I have to clean it constantly

Reliability would be CCI. It's clean too but more expensive than the others. Ammoman usually has federal bulk in stock.

All brand name ammo will cause fouling to some extent so cleaning periodically is a good idea....Do not oil the chamber or bore.....I have a nylon bristle brush that is bent 90* to scrub out the chamber with Hoppes bore cleaner...Wipe dry with a patch.

Out of all the bulk I've tried, CCI Tactical was the most accurate.. next would be Remington M-22, followed by CCI Blazer and Federal bulk for a tie (advantage Federal for copper plating!)...

The ammo cost was $18-25 for bulk (350-550 rounds) - with the Tactical on the high end, but worth it.

Seconded.

I swear by the CCI AR Tactical. I have yet to have any type of failure with the ammo in my 15-22.

I have never had any failures with CCI Blazer and I don't care that it is LRN. I can usually find it at Gun Shows for $170.00 plus tax for 5,000 rounds.

90% federal bulk with some cci tactical for longer ranges.

Shot about

1000 cci standard
1000 cci blazer
3000 federal bulk
1000 federal match
100 stingers

No FTF or FTE I like the federal bulk the best $19 at walmart for 550

I have also shot about 50 golden bullets and had 3 FTE and 6 FTF and I noticed really inconsistent powder loads.

Now that I've got my FTE problems fixed (by bending/adjusting the ejector), I've never had a hiccup with Federal Classic, but have had maybe 2%-4% or so FTFs with CCI Tacticals. I agree the CCIs a bit more accurate, but consider the reliability more important. I've just ordered 5k of the Classics and will be shooting the CCIs in my Buck Mark.

Best is CCI tactical.. But Spendy

CCI Blazers are just soooooo dirt... some boxes i just cant shoot in 15-22 so they go to my Pistols... so once the few boxes i have left are gone... no more for me

Federal Bulk will now be my Only .22 round Purchased. Great Price... never 1 issue to date, and i shoot with a Slide fire Stock, and always in stock and inexpensive...

CCI tactical for Hunting
Federal Bulk for Playing

.....

Just a reminder when you are trying out ammo ...

All Federal Champion is the same, whether it's the Blue box 525, Red box 550 or the maroon 375. The only difference is the packaging.

I do not know about the 375 value pack without the Champion name and the rounds all over the box. I'm betting it's still the same ammo, though.

I have shot the Value pack... appears to be the same ammo to me....

Great Point Majorlk

Saw Winchester M 22 bulk boxes 1000 rounds today. Wanted to get the opinions on who has tried them with the M&P 15-22. Before I drop any money wanted others opinions?

Thanks for your feedback

They've been tried by several. There are a bunch of existing threads if you want to spend some time wading through them. :)

The general consensus is that it's good, but not quite as good as CCI Tactical. I have not personally tried it, though.

I had 10 Win WildCats left to get rid of so I loaded a mag and popped off ten quick shots with the 15 22 at a 4 inch bulls eye at a hundred yards..........When I looked at the target there was only one hole in the center....I figured I hit it only once, but when I looked on the ground behind the target there were the ten rounds stuck nose to tail like a snake......Go figure.

My 15-22 works fine with everything i've loaded so far. Fed bulk round nose and hollow point, CCI tactical, CCI Minimags....

But it does need to be cleaned after each range session. Today I shot over 200 rounds of CCI Minimag and it was pretty dirty.

This rifle is fast and easy to take down and clean so it's not a big deal.

Hope to find some of that M22 ammo I've read about.

PS. I don't think your range will have an issue with the 36 grain hollow point rounds
