Hi Guys,
I have a full size M&P 9mm and a Shield 9mm. Would it make sense to run Hornady custom 147 xtp as standard SD ammo for both guns? Or would it make more sense to run something else in the Shield? Thanks!

Makes sense to me to run it in both.....just depends on the application for each gun.

As long as it fires okay, I wouldn't have any different ammo. But make sure to fire enough rounds to make sure that it is going to work okay, in each. Not every pistol likes the same rounds as others do. But my guess is that it will be just fine.

i think it would make a lot of sense to run "short barrel" Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P ammo in the Shield.

the bullet in the "short barrel" ammo is different and is designed to expand at the lower velocities offered from short barrels.

just my 2 centavos:D

I own both a 9c and a 9 shield. They both eat whatever I feed them but for defensive loads I find Critical Defense to give me quick follow ups on target and great accuracy. But ammo is very subjective, so if it works for you, and if you're comfortable shooting it, stick with it.
