Ammo shortage?

Now every critter with a house north of DC is selling out for $1 million and coming down to a "5/ 3.5 McMansion" for $400K and banking the rest (or buying a boat). Literally millions of 'em. Population was around 6 million when I got here, 22 million now. Doesn't help that no one speaks English anymore and ain't the least bit interested in helping anyone "different from us." I'm as prepared as I can be except I could use to be 40 years younger. Joe

I live in East TN. I've been here 69 years since I was 3. Things have changed here too and not for the better. We have what we call half backs. Half backs are the folks that sold their houses in NJ and NY and moved to Florida. They get there and hate the heat, humidity and bugs so the pick up and move to ET. ET is pretty much half way back home. Our climate is much milder, fewer bugs and amazing scenery with very affordable housing and no state income tax. Of course they have the obligation to show us illiterate rednecks how we should be living our lives. They bring with them their attitudes and liberal ways. They want life here to be just like where they came from. Funny that they never stop to think about what they are trying to get started is why they left the north, taxes and regulations. Fortunately they live among their own and don't talk to us trailer trash.

I will say I have met a few at the range and they've been decent people but that's what you'd expect from shooters.

I must have missed it. On my last trip to Bass Pro, they were cleaned out (all except the hunting calibers). I was going to take a photo of the bare shelves, but some guy searching for .22 LR would not get out of the way. ;)

I've signed up for alerts with TSUSA for all of the cheaper handgun range ammo in 9mm and .38Spl. When the Smartphone don't buzz, I know it's them not notifying me. :p
I saw some, American Eagle I think. ;)

My perspective was skewed. I'm an RN at a hospital; when everyone else was locked down I was working non-stop (would have liked a break). We saw a downturn, I thought the world was returning to normal. Instead, it was just a lull; ammo shortage is just part of the craziness.

People are stressed and angry. Cases are climbing back up, it's starting to catch some of us at the hospitals now. Buddy of mine diagnosed today; a nurse 2 months away from retirement. We were supposed to go shooting soon, he wanted to shoot his new PPK (and I wanted my son to shoot his Luger and Broomhandle). We have Mausers we want to stretch out. I'm supposed to be watching for a Garand for him.

I'm tired of this year. I have enough ammo to last awhile, but if ammo returns, it means life is returning.
Meh, enough of that cheerfulness :o...

<<I'm tired of this year.>>

Hang in there. My wife saw a couple cute pictures... one of them was the Time magazine Person of the Year, it was the Mayhem guy. :)

And then there was a racoon (which is an anagram of Corona) with his mask, washing his hands. LOL...

Thank You, for all that you and all the front line workers have done and continue to do!! :D

Hope this ends soon, for all of us!

If i was younger would be more concerned with the words/images being used against me years from now. Much more than someone trying to locate a physical location for nefarious purposes. Does anyone know for certain where this boards data base is? The "cloud" perhaps? The way searches are done for key words facial recognition now, and the possible future political situation with people digging up things from decades ago would make me consider limiting exposure if i was younger with decades of employment to consider.

Especially digital pictures with your physical image in it holding a firearm.

And yea, it just be an opinion.

I was amazed, back in late April(?), when Midway went from $21.95 per Aguila 22 LR brick to $25.99 per brick out of stock in 3 weeks. I bought a case at $21.95 per brick because it was available, not because of need.

I'm now pushing my expectations back from Christmas, to further into 2021. Nothing is available, and everyone wants "something".

For awhile, if you wanted a firearm, it seemed like the only option was an ugly AR/AK shotgun. Now I'm beginning to see stuff for *******g CROSSBOWS. That tells me the shotgun push is running out. Be thankful you have whatever you do, and you might want to be judicious with how much ammo you burn up.

There is plenty of ammunition available on line. You just have to know where to look. I buy all of my bulk ammunition on line.

Ammoman *
Palmetto State Armory
Cheaper Than Dirt (I know, I know :( )
Lone Star Gun and Supply
MidwayUSA (I think this company might be pretty low on ammunition because everyone knows who they are)
Classic Firearms **
*
I have been an Ammoman customer for years.

I have been a Classic Firearms customer for a long time, too.

There are others. My FFL buddy and I were discussing this just last night and he was reading out of a catalog the various deals out there on ammunition.

Plenty of the less poplar ammo still available on GunBroker, in the last week I purchased 200 rounds each of 6x5x54 and 7.62x54 R.

Having these less poplar calibers can keep you shooting if you didn't prepare for the current madness.

Looking through a catalog for ammo and them having it online are 2 different things. The other day I received 2 catalogs, Midway and Natchez. Just out of curiosity, I checked 10 items each, 9mm, .223 and .308. None were in stock. But they had really good catalog prices.
Just now, Palmetto had one flavor of .223 and one of 9mm. Out of 12 pages. The 9mm was self defense at over 2 bucks a round.
Classic does have a bit. However, I wouldn't say there is plenty of ammo around.

Here in MO same ammo shortage, but luckily I have a bit. A good friend's son just turned 21 and built his first AR, but he had no ammo! I gave him 500 rounds, but I told him I don't want money, just 500 rounds when he can get it.

There is hardly anything, until you get into obscene prices. I glanced at ammoman, and saw Blazer Brass at $465 a case, Wolf steel cased for $360. I know where to find Federal Classic Hi-Shok JHP for less than the Blazer, and about the same as the Wolf. Not sure if it's a full case, but it's $19 a box of 50.

I do see occasional deals on Tula, so I guess that is still shipping... but nothing else from overseas.

I sell ammo where I work. We limit it to two boxes per customer. So then you get the dad to come in with his wife and every family member over age 18, then they come back every day. All this is hoarding, and it makes it so others cannot get ammo they need. Even an older gent comes in every day to buy his limit. Guess what, no ammo left to sell!!!!! The wholesalers have raised prices so much, if I cannot afford to order guns or ammo, and if I did, I would have to sell these ABOVE suggested retail, just to make a few bucks. Not going to do it!!!!!

I shoot 10-20 times as much .22 as I do in larger rifle and pistol calibers. I can practice sight alignment and trigger pull with a .22 a lot cheaper than I can with a .357M and 30-06. Larry
I love shooting .22 LR - easy on the gun, easy on the ears, easy on the hands, easy on the wallet, and I don't need to break my back picking up the brass. - I reload, but not .22 ;>)

Ammo can still be found if you take the time to shop around. I just picked 550 rounds of 300 BLK on GunBroker for what I consider OK prices for the crazy times we are experiencing.

Shelves are completely bare here and most of my online retailers are also sold out or have to raise prices to keep product available. I've switched to shooting almost 22LR exclusively now until thing relax.

Even primers and powder are extremely difficult to come by now. Shame :/
