AMMO

My 15-22 has been flawless with all the ammo I've tried in it. Federal bulk is mostly what my son and I shoot out of it. As far as loading the mags wrong if my 7 yr old can do it with no problems I certainly hope an adult can.

I think all 15-22s functioning well with Federal is a myth or misconception. Mine hasn't functioned well with it (Federal) and mine also choked on Blazer. I get pretty good results with Winchester 555 or Xpert HV. However, if I want to be 100% sure that I get a bang every time I pull the trigger I use CCI Mini-Mags, Velocitors or Stingers.

I would run a few boxes of Velocitors or Stingers through yours to get it broken in before trying any bulk or sending it back (just my opinion). I hope yours gets up and running.

Check out the 'ammo talk' thread (just search for it) to see what works for diff. people's rifles.

Federal 525 bulk pack from Wal-Mart works great for me. Shot the dead center out of 3 bullseyes at 25 yards. Took 10 shots at the center of another that was twice the size and the whole center was gone. Love it

Give the CCI Tactical a shot, I love this ammo to death. Some highlites:
1. Copper plated (less lead buildup in the barrel)
2. Bullet is set tight in the brass casing (not all manufacturers are)..Pressures are consistant vs erratic.
3. Clean burning powder and solid primer performance, ( 99.999% fires) zero FTF and FTE in my M&P..
4. Light wax coated during package (bulk of 375), helps lubricates for FTF from the mag to breach..
5. 1200fps, less from CCI Bulk at 1235, reason, cycles better in semi-automatic's..
6. Accurate with zero flyers, (Winchester with loose bullets flew like a shotgun blast, I could never understand why)..

Granted it is a little more expensive but the performance is tops.

Another vote for CCI AR Tactical. This is all I use now in my Performance Center model. I've gone through 3 boxes of 375 with only 1 FTL (that was probably the way I loaded the mag). A little more expensive but for my gun, works flawlessly.

Good luck . . .

Mine does not shoot Federal very well at all either, but mine LOVES Blazer and CCI. All i stock up on is CCI Blazer ammo and CCI Tactical. I am about to put an SSAR-15 stock on my 15-22 and hope to god it still likes both those 2.

Just proves the statement that many of us have been making: each firearm is a law unto itself as to ammo preference(s). There are no hard and fast rules.

mine does federal just fine...most ftf and fte can be traced to a magazine issue...load the magazine and then look at the rear and be sure the rounds are not stacked on top of each other...they should be catty corner (check owners manual carefully)

i use CCI SV and love it....yet to have a failure, had 4-5 out of a box of federal...which I was happy with but had a few flyers.

I use CCI SV for suppressed shooting. Always stays subsonic. Great target ammo at a reasonable price. $25/500 Dick's Sporting Goods.

For general plinking my 15-22 will cycle just about anything. Federal, Remington, Winchester... so whatever is cheapest that week goes in the cart. :D

I have Failure to Eject issues with the Federell bulk pack. Just about a 40% FTE rate at the range from any of my 5 mags. CCI (all types) and Federal American Eagle work just fine. Those are the only others I have tried.

I hand cycled the bulk pack and they barely clear the ejection port. The CCI and the Federal American Eagle eject half way across the room. At the range I have a less than a 1% FTE issue with the CCI or Federal American Eagle.

For some the bulk pack works, for some it doesn't. The price difference for the standard CCI LRN is just a little more than the bulk pack
