Here's that Hardballer I picked up a couple weeks ago with Pachmayr wrap around flat side grips and new Masen hammer. Masen parts don't necessarily rate that high on most folk's list, but it's better finished than the factory hammer (replaced because it was dinged up on the spur and had ugly spots on one side) and dropped right in. It seems to have smoothed up the action just a hair, but that may be my imagination. The finish is almost a perfect match to the factory bead blasted finish, although it looks a tad darker in this pic than in real life. I generally don't like wrap arounds or Pachmayrs, but these give it a suitably retro look, and I couldn't find a set of Supreme wrap arounds in decent condition.

I ordered a replacement FP stop to try to get a tighter fit than what's in there now, but stupidly didn't think about the fact that this slide's cut for the adjustable sight and so a standard FP stop won't fit without grinding the top down.

Not pictured: Ed Brown HD firing pin and HD FP spring.

I like Pachmayrs and have them on all of my 1911's.

I have to admit they are rather comfortable and grippy. I think I generally don't like the retro look of Pachmayrs, but as with some of my pre-lock Smith revolvers, on this gun it works.

Sweet !
I'm a big AMT Hardballer fan myself...you will enjoy it.
Time for a range trip and report !!!!

Gary

I have a couple of AMT's. My dad gave me his Skipper and I have an old Hardballer. Pop never shot the skipper but my Hardballer has spit out many rounds. Here they are with my Range Officer.

Will there now be a range report?

Probably no time in the near future. I get to the range on average about once every 6 months these days, so I can buy/sell/trade at least a dozen guns in that time. Frankly, I pick up stuff I think is neat for as cheap as possible and put a little effort into cleaning and refurbishing if need be. If I had a rule to actually shoot every gun I picked up, well, I'd rarely pick up anything new. But the Hardballer is on my short list to take to the range next time since it's in good condition but worn enough for me to not care about putting a little more wear and tear on it. If I do, I'll post a range report.

Sounds like me!
