This 1954-vintage .357 is available locally. I have not been able to view it in person yet, but hoping that changes soon. Seller states that it has the wrapping paper in the box, but doesn't mention tools. Assuming everything checks out as it should, and finish is good (it appears to be), what is an average value? I know that could be all over the place, but I just need an approximation. Thanks for any info.

Yes, the grips are definitely wrong. I'll trade you a set of the correct ones though, evensteven, might even pay the shipping for both of us.

Would be better if we had close up clear pictures of both sides of the gun but I'd be surprised to find it tagged for less than $1500 where I shop. Might go for more on one of the auction sites and I might be able to negotiate it down a little locally based on those awful grips being wrong for the gun; and that ugly trigger shoe too. Let us know if you get it, and pictures please.

Haha! No, I think I will keep the cokes if I buy it, but I appreciate the offer. :) Are you sure that's a trigger shoe? Looks more like the wide target trigger to me, but not sure they made them back then. Thanks for the estimate.

I blew the picture up, I think you're right, maybe not a trigger shoe. Not sure when the wide target triggers became available. I wouldn't let that bother me though.

What else is in the box? A vintage SAT is also worth over $100. Check to see if the gun's serial is written on the bottom of the box. I'm not doubting it is the original but it doesn't hurt to verify.
Oh, yes. I'd definitely check the number on the box if I'm paying for it.

I appreciate all the info. Before I'd even made this post I'd sent the seller a message telling him I was interested and would like to schedule a time to see it. I figured if it checked out it was worth the asking price and you guys confirmed it was worth a good bit more. But, the seller is not the best communicator. I only heard back from him about six hours later and he told me that someone else is taking a look at the gun tomorrow. It's a 2 hour drive, so I'm not going to sit there waiting to see if the guy is a looker or a buyer. So, I told the seller to let me know if the guy doesn't buy it and I'll be there. BTW, the asking price is $1K.

For $1k there's no way you can go wrong. Call him back and tell him you'll take it.

For what it's worth I bought a 1952 like new in the box, tools, papers, 3.5" last month for $3100. I saw another one sell a week later for $4100 a 1954 3.5" That is the market for that model in mint condition. You can take it from there.

Well here's how I would value it. A 6" pre-27 original in excellent condition, $1300.00 average price. The original gold box, (assuming it also says 6" on the end) $300+. The added value of cokes over standard grips (magnas) $300 - $350. So $1900 to $2000 would be fair. I have bought similar pre-27's on auction for a little less, but the value of the cokes and original box can't be underestimated. If you decide not to buy it, please let me know, thanks.

As you know, the 3.5" are a lot more than the 6". Seems everybody wants one - I know I want another one.
