I know, first world problems and all that. Half of these threads are pretty serious... Well, this one isn't.

Now, I don't care what you buy or make your pepperoni or jerky out of. It can be beef, venison, carrion, anteater, porcupine, etc. It is whatever you made or bought that tasted the best!

What's it gonna be??

I went with either since the quality is what counts. Either if good, neither if bad.

BTW: That chopped and mixed "jerky" IS NOT jerky!

I like both, but I would lean more towards pepperoni for it's versatility. Jerky can be a good snack, but I can eat pepperoni as a snack, on a sandwich, on pizza, on Ritz crackers with some cheese, in an omelet, etc.

I had a co-worker who was a hunter and one day he brought in some venison jerky he made...very tasty.

As far as pepperoni, I'm not too picky about it, though I tend to get turkey pepperoni when I buy it at the store.

I'm glad someone put up a poll I can relate to.

I've had both made to perfection. I once knew a rancher that made jerky every time he butchered cattle. He covered it with pepper and hung it in the summer sun (AZ) on a clothesline for 2 weeks, 100 degrees every stinking day.. That was back when people actually used clotheslines. We used to help him butcher and he would bring us about 5 pounds of fresh beef jerky as a thank you.

I still prefer pepperoni though. Just has a bit more flavor. I'm a lover of hot sausage.

PEPPERONI!!!!

And, if we're talking pizza, it should only be made with really good quality cheese (non of the low fat stuff) and pepperoni. Nothing else, no vegetables, no fruit, no other meat. It can be thin crust all the way to deep dish but don't ruin it with stuff like pineapple.

If you know what you are doing and how to care and cut your meats.............

then either brime them, dry rub, and use the correct type of wood
for your smoker, be it electric, pellet or charcoal.......

Jerky is might hard to beat as a snack.

By the way, Salmon can be made as jerky, also.

Just saying...

I make my own jerky/snack sticks & summer sausage.......YUM!....A big dehydrator and a Masterbuilt electric smoker are wonderful tools!......My meats are turkey and venison........And I like pepperoni too........

Several years ago we had a few sheep, mainly our daughters program for showing them and a few feeders on the side to make it worth our time. Anyway, we would take them to the sale barn the night before which was 30 miles away. One night these guys were unloading the biggest hogs I had ever seen, old sows that were past their prime and HUGE. He had a bunch of them too and I think some old boars as well, man they were big. Anyway, I asked him what they did with a hog that big and he said, they make pepperoni out of them. I have never viewed pepperoni the same ever since.

I'm Italian so there is only one choice for me....pepperoni! Can't find the good stuff anymore.Used to get sticks of pepperoni that looked all shriveled up and you had to peel the outer paper off before eating.

Smoking meat (or fish) is the best way I know to make friends.

I have a lot of friends who only come around in Sept.

We buy those big sticks when we visit family in Buffalo NY. I can't remember the brand name though. The sticks are about 2 to 3 feet long, look shriveled and they do have the paper cover. One of the best pepperoni's you can buy.

Must be the aging process they use. Some of the pepperoni in the stores today is nothing more than a large Slim Jim.
