An interesting TED talk

Not sure what to think

About the general's remarks.

Surely he would have been mighty uncomfortable to have been with me this afternoon as I visited a LGS having a big sale.

Scores of folks filling out forms and buying guns! Legally. I restrained myself and just bought a box of 9MM for my new pistol.

Of course we all want a peaceful society but do we want one where the state has an almost total monopoly on the ability to use deadly force?

It's a thorny question that he did not address.

Thanks for your post and link to the TED Talk lihpster. Well worth opening up and listening to his entire presentation. For a man addressing fellow europeans with their society's perspective, I thought he made his points in a very appropriate way. Particularly appreciated the manner in which he making his final points by recognizing the female captain and her service to her country.

I can interpret his talk several ways, several being not so good. I cannot interpret it as a defense of the Second Amendment. Which of course does not exist in the Netherlands.

I have a problem with TED. I was an Engineering Consultant for 10 years. One of the CEOs I worked for made frequent TED broadcasts touting his new invention. I spoke to him in person telling him that his claims were wrong, and that we had not yet developed his "invention". When the money gave out and claims were disproved, he moved on.

Not saying all is bad. Just be aware. Some platforms need scrutiny.
