Our Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney's office always holds an end of year Christmas Party and Awards Banquet which includes the sheriff's offices, police department, and state police troop for the three counties which make up the Judicial District. My wife and I typically attend these formal events and I was surprised and honored to receive the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award.

My wife, who has stoically endured my 25 years on the job, actually cried when I went on stage and accepted the award. I have been blessed to have a wife and two sons who have been supportive of me when I was late or missed family events or had to walk out in the middle of a family dinner when the phone rang. She has washed blood out of my uniform by hand many times, fortunately never mine, and has never complained when she snuggled with me as I came to bed with cold feet after coming off duty in the middle of a winter's night. On the ride home she said she was proud of me and I told her that her name should be on the plaque with mine.

Congratulations. I am not surprised you won this award. In your posts here you have shown you have great character and put others ahead of yourself. Even in telling of this well deserved honor you shift the spotlight to your wife and family. Well done. The world needs more Faulkners, both Mr and Missus.
