A couple of weeks ago I bought back my sweet little 6906 that I traded off year or so ago. As God is my witness I don't know what posessed me to trade it away in the first place. I liked it when I got it.

Anyhow, I got it back, and I finally got to go shooting with it this past Saturday, and it's just as sweet as I remember. I put about 300 flawless rounds through it. Now I just can't wait for my Crossbreed Supertuck to arrive so I can use it for a CCW.

This is the second S&W (the other being my 19-4) that I've been fortunate enough to be able to get back after trading them away. Hopefully I've learned my lesson :D

You need to be quiet about 69xx guns so the price does not go up until I pick up a couple more of them.

I traded mine once but I now have two of them back plus a 6946 DAO. They are my favorites of the 3rd gen pistols.

The only acceptable reason to ever sell or trade a 6906 would be trading it on a 3913. Glad to see you got it back.

I'll never get rid of mine...

I'll never get rid of mine... Posts like this have convinced me to keep them all!

You know that expression "I forgot more stuff by lunch than you ever knew"? Well I have stupidly traded off more S&W's than most forum members will ever own! By the way that's not bragging, it's self admonishment.

Don't feel bad. I've done that too but bought it back the first chance I had. 69xx pistols are sweet little handguns.

I almost agree, except another acceptable excuse is trading towards a CS9. I had a 3913 once and traded it for a 6906, thinking they would carry the same. They didn't. More times than not, the 6906 was left in the safe because I still perceived it as being too big for comfortable IWB carry. So I bought a CS9. WOW! Even better than the 3913 was. Slimmer, shorter, and lighter. It's a dream to carry. never an excuse to leave it at home now.

I love my 6906. I received it as a birthday gift 2 years ago and will never part with it. I let a 4013 go that I`m still kicking myself over...never again!

I got started in trading on 3rd gen. and ended up with......

I traded my 6906 for a 686, and instantly regretted it. I got a nice chunk of change when I sold it, and another 6906 is on my list. Every S&W I've had, except for the 686, I've wanted back, especially my Model 28, the first S&W revolver I've had.

I don't have a 6906, but I do have a 6906 hammer in my 3913. These 3rd gen guns are just terrific. Maybe someday I can own the whole 6906 too.

Found my like new 6906 about two years ago. Would not part with it unless I could trade even for a 5906 in the same condition.

I have had 3 6906's. The first had the magazine safety break after firing just 3 rounds. Couldn't pull the slide back, remove the magazine nor pull the trigger. I sent it back to S&W, and in less than a week had a brand new one. This time the same thing happened after firing 5 rounds. Again, S&W replaced it promptly. The 3rd one I traded immediately.

Unlike the OP, I'm guessing that you aren't looking to reacquire your long ago traded 6906. Am I right?

I've owned a few of them over the years. Still retain one and won't trade or sell it. I don't carry it that often anymore, but truely like the pistol. BTW, by means I no longer recall, I have several different top ends for mine. Plain sights, night sights and adjustable sights. Pretty cool.

You have guessed correctly. I have a lot of respect for S&W's customer service. Quality control, not so much. The pity is I really liked the way the 6906 felt in my hand and thought it was just a damn fine looking pistol. I never had the chance to fire one for long enough to have anything positive to say about it's functioning.

I can understand. Mine is a 9.5 out of 10 with zero holster wear. Incredible shape! I really like mine too. Its the only S&W auto that i have. Im really into Glocks but Im reluctant to give this one up. It looks and shoots like nothing else that i own.
