And the war is on.

Orchestrated by the US and Britain in 1953. Fair enough, but that was 72 years ago.

Lasting until 1979, and then let’s not forget how we armed, funded and equipped Saddam Hussein in his war against Iran from 1984-1988. Lots of Iranian fathers and grandfathers gone because we demanded “payback” against those who dared to defy our stooge…

And of course there’s the whole airliner shoot down and the sanctions.

Not saying it’s right, but we may have played a slight part in getting their ire up…

'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel' in the region is akin to saying, "You stink," "Pound sand," or "Bite me" over here. It's just not language indicating imminent slaughter of millions. Different cultures, different meanings.
And it’s not like our own politicians, media and entertainment haven’t framed Iran as evil incarnate for literally my entire life.

Boomers watching JAG and NCIS got the whole “Israel good Iran bad” message every episode.

Call of Duty and Battlefield and Rainbow Six are literally “Iranian savages are coming TRAIN FOR WAR!”

President Bush defined three unrelated countries who all hate al-Queda as the “axis of evil” and invaded one of them.

Long memories ain’t just a ME thing.

Heck, Chuck Norris was kick-launching Iranian dudes through airliners long before Tom Cruise was dogfight-bombing totally-not-Iranian nuclear MiGs in a liberated Tomcat…point is, we did a hard 180* on Iran in 1979 and now they’re basically the Arachnids from Starship Troopers to most Americans.

How fast we forget.

Also an object lesson to our “allies”, they can be memory-holed fast.

Just like Islam has gotten over accession arguments over the Prophet's position after his death in 632 AD. The Sunn'i and Shi'a truly were 'besties' afterward. Still are. Really. 😕

These are not Americans, and trying to ascribe American motivations and belief systems to those in the region isn't profitable.

Again, declare victory and leave.
