I traded a CZ-75B SA for this pistol. I couldn't pass up the opportunity on owning such a gorgeous 3rd Gen. pistol. It was sitting in someones safe since the early 90's and only has had 50 rounds through it. I ran 2 50rd boxes of 135gr +P Critical Duty through it so far and has functioned flawlessly. Please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences with this model pistol.

I thoroughly enjoy my 4026, the frame-mounted de-cockers are a good compromise between the slide-mounted fat decocker, and the DAO pistols.

You might want to source the unique parts for this pistol before they all dry up. Things like the sideplate and grips.

Already ordered updated sideplate & Wolff recoil springs and mag springs. Extractor and ejector are next on my list.

That's an incredibly nice piece. I imagine you could put several hundred more through it and still not have a glitch.

I only wish that they had made a single stack compact 9mm version of that.

Hmmmm... Could some of those parts be frankened onto something like a 908 frame?

Interesting. I purchased a 5926 that had been issued to the Chandler, AZ PD. It was in great shape.

I have never seen a 5926, let alone any 3rd gennie, with the model number laser etched on the slide.

Wonder what the story on that is?

I did not notice it before buy mine has the model number etched on the slide also. The slide is also stamped with "SMITH & WESSON" in a different location than where the OP gun is stamped. I picked mine up LNIB a few years ago in Florida. I have never seen a 3rd gen. frame de-cocker that I did not like.

Congratulations. I have a 5906 that I got from a long time friend who is now retired from the CPD. They were transitioning out of the Smith's and he let me buy it. I traded him a Roland JC 120 amp which he donated to his church. It was one of those "feel good" deals.
I don't think I have ever enjoyed a pistol more than this one. I am happy for both of us!

I recently saw a 5906 with the frame mounted decocker, didn't even know they made a side cocker model. Really cool looking too.
