Congratulation!! I am happy for all those who are fortunate enough to make to their retirement with the health and resources to enjoy some hard earned time to enjoy the good things in life. I know a lot of folks that don't make it.

I always used to say, "If I can just get 10 good years I'll go out a happy man." I can't believe my great good fortune on this because Tomorrow I will celebrate the 21st anniversary of my own retirement.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not done yet, not by a long shot but if I fall out of this chair before I can finish this post I have had a good time. The love and respect of a good family and the time and opportunity to enjoy all that which I earned.

My message to all those who are still in their jobs and looking forward to retirement. HANG IN THERE, IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!.

I have been sitting on my butt for 21 years after retiring twice. Well not exactly because I help the much younger wife who has continued to work all this time while I do the shopping, laundry, etc. She finally is going to join me so we can do things we like together and definitely have some car travel plans post-virus.

Your words are truer than you might imagine. I have medical opinion that retirement may have saved my life. My diabetes nurse practioner took over my case just before my retirement. She later told me the when she met me the first time she wasn't sure I was going to make it.

I'm sure all your friends in here join me is saying that we are very glad to still have you around. Making is always good but it must be doubly sweet after overcoming that obstacle. Again, some heavy duty congratulation.
 
I started public work at 16 while still in school. Quit work at 60 so I worked 44 yrs. I have been retired 18 yrs. and I want my retired years too equal my work years so I'm expecting 26 more years of retirement. Larry

I wish you the best luck with that. I got my first job at the age of 13 in 1957 bagging groceries and hustling shopping cart at a local grocery store. From then until my retirement on 1/1/2000 I was never unemployed except for the 2 weeks I took to have some time with my family after my military service.

So then, by your calculations I have another 22 years of retirement due me. Sounds good to me. :cool: :D
 
Congratulations. Five years for me August 31, 2020 at 4:00 pm CDST. The Yankee Gov't would have forced me to retire on December 31, 2020. I wouldn't do it any differently . . .

I know a person that their retirement date was going too be March 31. Jan. 2 they figured they would make their last 3 mos. the best and they got pretty sorry. The first of February their big boss asked if they would leave if they had an excused absence with no pay and their retirement still be March 31. They told him he was a sweet talker. If you play your cards right you may be able too leave before 3 months. Larry
