Cabelas did an upgrade to their online gun library - previously I sort of enjoyed browsing their offerings and have bought on several occasions. Their new listing is really difficult to use - it looks nice but that's about it.

For example, if you select "Smith & Wesson" it will display all the (hundreds) of guns but in no particular order. If you click on a particular item, it seems like 75% of the time it's sold (or at least says it is.) There is only one picture of the gun - before, there were at least 2 (both sides) and often more. All the guns seem to be located in Dundee Michigan?

Really messed up - hope it improves - end of rant.

Agreed - the new version is less friendly than the previous one. Hopefully they will tweak it a little if enough folks give feedback. I used to really enjoy browsing the American made shotguns on there.

Sounds like any grocery store. Just when you know where everything is, they move it all to sell more of the slow moving items.:(

I have to agree with these criticisms. It used to be that the S&W revolver listings were pretty much in some kind of order by model number, although the sequences often repeated. Now, it's just a mess. The lack of photos is another big problem. Their prices haven't come down either -- guess they need the cash for their "new and improved" website.

As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I only tried their site once some time ago. There was a gun I really wanted but it said something like "on hold" I called and finally got someone at the store where it was located. They couldn't tell me anything. I asked is it sold or what? Is there a down payment? Their answer was, "I think it was set aside for someone that was interested in it" It stayed that way for over a week. I gave up.

That was the end of my shopping there.

I bought one, a model 57, and it showed it as unsold/available for several weeks, even though my dealer had it in hand within a few days of me ordering it from the website. I don't put any stock in whats on the site anymore. I just call and ask if it's still around or not.

I found the same results with the "new/improved" Cabelas Gun Library. As per availability had contacted on a couple guns listed at GunsAmerica, and been told they weren't available. The most recent one, the store told me, "no we don't have that anymore....that posting was taken down, don't know why it is back up."
