Ever have a gun just fall to you?

Once in a lifetime ( Maybe two lifetimes)

The owner of the LGS I was working for bought an entire collection $40,000++

To figure out the cost of more than 100 pcs he would divide the $40,000 by 100= $400.00 each gun.. some worth more some worth less!

In that collection was this.. his cost $400.00

As I was the one entering in the log book I took note of the stamp REG:eek:

I told him I wanted it BAD!! He was not stupid , I paid him $3000.00 and ran..

NOTE

The gun is still owned by a member here.

The two guns I inherited from my grandfather, both Model 58s, are what spurred my interest in collecting S&Ws and informed my chosen area of interest.

Well, I've had a couple just kind of drop in. Was given a Japanese Type 38 Arisaka w/sling and bayonet just because the lady wanted it out of her house. An elderly friend sold me a couple guns very cheaply (he set the price and refused an offer to pay more), a beautiful Mauser sporter from the 1950's and a K98 still in full military trim.

My father in law gave me his Remington 721 which he had hunted with all over the US and Canada with the intention it should go to my son (his first grandson) when the time came and I have since passed it on to him. Funny thing, when he and my mother in law divorced he left a shotgun tucked back in the corner of the closet. She didn't know it was there, found it when replacing a light for her so it's in my safe now and will go to my daughter. Nothing fancy, just an old hardware store single shot but a bit of family history worth keeping.

I guess I've been lucky with gun deals and hand me downs, there have been quite a few others come my way over the years. The Colt Targetsman I sold twice and bought back twice, a pre WWII Walther PPK that a dealer had priced as a post war example (too cheap to pass up). Some guns that were simply given me because they were broken and the owner didn't want to pay to fix them...........

In December 2021 I stopped by a local gun shop/range I regularly visit, there, waiting in the racks for me, a Japanese made Weatherby Mark XXII semitauto.
