And on another note.
My son has been scheduled for deployment this year. All of a sudden, preparations stopped. Deployment canceled. No reason given. Scuttlebutt is a combination of Covid and the draw down in Afghanistan.
God Bless him and watch over him, and bring him home safely to his family. Than you for raising him and thank him for his service. Departure days are difficult.
Prayers for the safety of your son and his comrades.
I wonder how many military folks are still in Kosovo. I was an international police officer there 2002-2004. I used to go over to Camp Bondsteel to get a Whopper from the on base Burger King and shop in the PX.
In the USMC we were always told you had to be at least 6 feet tall to be in the Coast Guard because...............if the boat sank, you could stand up and walk to shore.
God bless all the men and women who wear the uniform and " ride to the sound of the guns". The families that wait and worry deserve a special thanks and a prayer. The military has improved since 1968 b but it is still a hard life for serving member and their family. I was not married during my tour in Vietnam and I heard many stories of families going to churches and any where else they could find food and help of any kind. My monthly check was $183.00 a month and I have no idea how any junior enlisted could keep their families fed.
