Another extractor....

Really? Wow. I guess I don't understand. You haven't even shot the rifle yet. I think a lot of people are really happy with their rifles so they don't frequent forums as often as people looking for answers to problems they have. Maybe not. Give it a chance. I think you'll find it's a lot of fun. I did!

My 15-22 is about two month old and unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I have not had a chance to fire it yet. After reading the forum and all the problems I wonder if should just ask S&W if they will just take it back (with a refund)? Sorely disappointed.

talk about a pessimist,

you are sorely disapointed? in what the gun or yourself for not giving it a try? Go shoot the thing then come back and cry us a river.

I have about 500 rounds of bulk Federal of 2 types, And also some Velociraptors threw mine with no issues so far. All of those have been flawless since i bungled the first mag by not loading it right.

The way it sounds its only a matter of time before my goes flying, Maybe ill get lucky.

I wont buy Remington or Winchester ammo in .22 as ive had issues with those both before with my other .22 pistol.

I can understand having high expectations of a $500 .22 S&W product sporting a Match Grade Precision Barrel. Unfortunately, disappointment is rife on these boards.

I don't think you'll have much luck with a return. I also don't think you deserve some of the criticism I read here for being less than anxious to squeeze the trigger on a rifle having numerous reports of OOB right out of the box.

I've been a vocal critic... uh that's not quite right. I've been a very loud and obnoxious vocal critic of S&W and their 15-22 product. IMO, too many of these rifles just plain suck. Cycling problems, mags are picky to load, mag snags, OOBs, barrels chronically coming lose... you name it.. this rifle suffers from it.

IMO, you gotta have a reason beyond just a normal functioning rifle to want a 15-22. I wanted a cool looking .22 rifle with a lot of rail space to hang junk from. The 15-22 has served this purpose well and I would purchase another without hesitation. As well, I have about 12k rounds through mine with zero FTF, zero FTE, zero OOB, about 1% mag snags (and maybe even less lately) and the barrel stays in place. It really is a well functioning rifle. And considering how much it gets terrorized at the range... i'd have to say I'm impressed.

Your rifle may operate great like mine. Ser# DTH.

Good luck regardless of your decision.

Hey fellows thanks for all of your feedback....I suppose I am a little "quick on the trigger" to be making negative comments without the benefit of even going to the range and firing my 15-22 (the platform and .22LR was my incentive to buy---its a great looking little rifle).

Maybe this cold, wet winter is getting to me. Anyway, I look forward to providing a range report soon with positive results. In the meantime I am back to the bench for another oil down.

By the way what is a TS and Spikes fanboy??

Just messin with ya....
Over on ar15.com there is always a debate whether one should purchase a dedicated upper (TS/SPikes) or a 15-22.
I honestly thought you were joking when you posted that, but I guess that cold weather is getting to ya. ;)
