The same lgs where I picked up the 3 digit K22 has had this one for about 2 months(it belongs to the shop owner) and I have looked at it every time I walk in there. His asking price has been out of my range so a few days ago he tells me that he wants me to have it, shoots me a price and I say ok but you'll have to wait until next week. No problem he says, you can go ahead and take her home today.

The serial number, K144XXX, places it at 1952(SCSW3) and it is all matching including the grips. The matte blue finish, my favorite, is almost perfect with just a tiny bit of wear at the tip of the barrel on the right side and with a tad bit of dried oil in places. I hesitate at grading finish/condition but on this one I think I can safely say that it is 98% or better. Unfortunately, the box is very shelf worn and does not include the serial number. It's possible it may not be the original box. I don't know how one would be able to tell or if there are differences in gold boxes throughout different years of production. Pics below..

Very nice get. Just for clarification do you mean the serial number is K144XX or K144xxx? A 144K would put the gun in about 1982.

K14363 shipped in 1/1948
K144234 shipped in 6/1952

I think you might have mis-typed the date of 144K which it seems is the OP's serial number. The 6 digit serial number you posted with a 1952 date is serial number 144K, but you also give a 1982 date.

Very nice matte finish K22!

No. Serial number 144K is much different than K144. Like I said before serial number 144K would place the gun in the 1982 time frame. The K is first in the serial number until they got to 1K, 2K, etc. etc. etc.

Mike
When the OP posted 144K, I think he meant 144000. His K wasn't the K of the serial number, but rather an abbreviation for 1,000.

In other words, I think he meant K144000ish. Which, as you pointed out, would be from c. 1952.

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused but to your point, K144XXX.
