Greetings. Just dropped in and decided to introduce myself. Picked up a new M&P 9mm full size a couple of weeks ago. This is my first semi-auto pistol ... I've always had a fetish for revolvers ... especially Rugers ... so this is really new to me.

Welcome to this great forum...I am sure you wil find great advice here.

Congrats on the 9mm FS, it will serve you well. I just got a M&P .40FS but have yet to try it out due to an unexpected back surgery I am still recovering from. Now take your new gun out for a test drive and report back!

Have a blast...Brian

Enjoy your FS9, and welcome to the 'club'. I bought my FS9 a few months ago and other than it's ferocious appetite for 9mm snacks, i love it. :) I try and shoot once a week. It's my favorite s-a I've ever owned for an everyday weapon.

Thanks for the greetings. I've put about 500 rounds through this pistol without too much trouble. Had one squib ... but I think it was due to using some old cheap ammo ... I should have known better.

Also, my shot placements were consistently low for the first 300 rounds or so. It's not the gun ... it's me. Not used to the trigger and was breaking my wrist. Practice, practice, practice. :o

I was having trouble with low shots as well. I had no problem with my revolvers and could even fire a better group with my old PPK. Like you I finally determined it was my trigger control. Installing the next larger grip size (medium) helped a lot. I also changed my hold slightly so that my finger wasn't wrapping around the trigger. That brought the POI up to where it should be. Since then my shooting with my MP has improved a lot. I can now pretty consistantly hold 3" groups, center target, at 25 yards and 2" at 50ft. I have the M&P 40fs but do most of my target and practice shooting with my 9mm barrel.

I have the 9mm full size too. Shoot it pretty much every weekend and I really like this pistol.

Welcome and enjoy your M&P
