Was just announced that San Antonio will soon be getting an Applebee's-IHOP fusion restaurant. The first in the US is in Seguin TX, not too far from San Antonio, which opened in February. Plan is to open 15 more US locations by the end of 2026. Both brands are part of the same company. Apparently, they will be co-located in the same building, but will have separate dining areas. Sounds like customers in either area also can order from either menu, e.g., if the husband wants a hamburger on the Applebee's menu and his wife wants pancakes from the IHOP menu, that is OK. There will also be be bar service, so if you want a Martini with your scrambled eggs and sausage, you can have it. It makes no sense to me, but the same concept already exists, with Applebees-IHOP joint locations already operating in the Middle East, Mexico, and Canada. So it apparently works. Strange that I had not heard of it before tonight.
