How about this. Take a S&W Mod 41 in 22LR. Fit it with a 16.5 to 18" barrel,what ever balances best, and then fit it with a shoulder stock.
Put a short wood forend on just the right spot, have the barrel drilled and tapped for scope mounts in the correct place for a regular rifle scope.
Kind of like the "rifle" Browning makes out of their semi auto.
The beauty of something like this is for S&W almost no R&D would need to be done.
Just make a longer barrel, and male the stock fit the standard pistol frame with no modifications.
