Another Scam Attempt

This time it was my Visa.
I got from USAA and I pay it online.
So I sign on and take a peek.
Wow! I owe over $1,200.
Take a look at the purchase screen and it seems that I bought Software from a company that I never heard of for $1,011!
Dispute Button, Bang, Explain, get Bitchy but try not to get twitchy!
Charge is gone, credit card cancelled.
I don’t understand why these folks think they can sneak a $1,000 charge past a guy who buys gas -$20 and shops at Walmart - $40, and don’t carry a balance.
Maybe it’s a mass attack, put charges on every card number they can get, and see how many folks will pay them?

Have a thread on the forum about a similar event happening to me after a mail theft.
I pursued it with local LEO's and 4 were arrested and charged, two of them convicted so far of one Federal charge of: "Conspiracy to commit offense or to defraud US". The other charges were "Dismissed without Prejudice".
They all have long criminal histories, but I'm not holding my breath for them getting much jail time.

Glad you got the charge dropped, but the hassle of a new card, especially if it is one you pay a lot of accounts, is a real pain!
