Same place, different circumstances. Breaking news, but it's the same Shoot Straight location as the mother-son scene a couple weeks back. My question, if you're going to do yourself in, why go through the hassle of going to a range? There are websites full of info on painless and easy ways to flush yourself. One of them is big on helium. No pain and if someone cleans up, looks like natural causes. You know, insurance concerns. I don't understand, we are all going to be dead soon enough, what's the rush. Plenty of folks left that I have to piss off before I go. Joe

I'd sure hate to be Khalid's insurance agent.
You're right, there are other more peaceful and painless ways.

I know 4 guys who have all shot themselves in the head-dead. One was an army captain friend who shot himself after shooting his wife. Two guys shot themselves after combinations of failed marrages and failed business. One guy over health issues. If things in my life ever got that bad, I would never do something so damn messy. Give me a bottle of jim beam and some drugs.

Godspeed

One has to wonder how much worse the trend will become with all the job losses, etc. It may not be a bad idea to list a few of the things to watch for that can flag a person that someone they are close to is depressed and suicidal. I recall a waitress telling a story of a female customer that threw a donut at her because she failed to give her a fork. Moments later the customer took her own life. I guess we would say "erratic behavior".

I'm thinking it's his former insurance agent by the end of today.

BTW, never did like that range even though it is close to where we used to live. Anything larger that a .38 Special the backstop would spit lead fragments back at you.

Shame about a guy that troubled going that way. Sad.

The family of the deceased, and the workers and owners of the range are in my prayers.

I know how it is to know someone that committed suicide and did it in a way that it affected others emotionally.

It is always bad situation, but no one (or thing) should ever be blamed for the person's actions.

Unfortunately I think you are right, it will become more frequent. In addition, I think there will be an increase in suicides for older people. We have a generation or two that are right now marching towards "retirement" and are simply not prepared for it, for all kinds of reasons. The bottom line is they will have no money to retire on, they will attempt to keep working, health will decline as it does with age, getting hired will be difficult if not impossible, costs mount, assets built up over a lifetime are depleted, and what's left?

I suspect more than a few will opt to implement an early exit plan before all their family assets are gone.

Thank You..

Range killings are easy to explain: the "victim" most likely doesn't own a gun, so they rent one. Gun owners probably don't want to mess their own property. This freaks my wife out big time. Any time I want to go to the range she mentions suicides. Her fear is some nut might decide to off the other guys shooting with him.
