I had an interesting morning...As some may remember from "that" thread, I have a tendency to sleep very little or not at all. I might sleep(if I Do!)for an hour & a half than I'm up for a couple. Anyways, this morning my misguided body clock told me to get up at 5:30 AM, so I got up & moved to a chair that sits beside my bed. I noticed a new stain on the carpet that could only be blood, & started looking for the cause. I found a "leak" on my lower right leg, & as I watched, it turned into a geyser, shooting some three feet. I grabbed for anything to use in staunching the flow, hollering for my Father to give me a hand. We ended up calling the meat wagon, & they were unable to stop the blood loss. At the emergency room the doctor was finally able to get it under control, & after a couple of hours of observation they sent me home. I was sure that I was in for another stay at the hospital, so it was nice to come home. My room looks like a crime scene! We have a guy coming tomorrow & hopefully he'll be able to effect some kind of cleanup. I'll post more when I know...

Dang Tim,
Hope your OK bud.
Spontaneous blood spurts from the legs is not a good thing.
Wishing you the Best.

Coumedin sucks, but Xarelto is scary, and Eliquiss is expensive.

So blood thinners are fun, all the way round. Sorry to hear you

had a trip to the hospital. Last time, for me, was coincidental with

my daughter being in town for a visit. That sucked.

And that would be how I wound up on Eliquiss...

Wow Tim glad you got it stopped!,,,,Take care and be extra careful!

If you need it, I'll mail you a pint to keep on hand in case of emergency.

Seriously, I hope that's all behind you. Prayers for you, buddy.

Just pretend this is witty.

What is your dosage? I'm on 3 milligrams every night, except for Tuesday when I take 4 1/2 milligrams. Get my INR checked often.
My previous pacemaker Dr. decided to put me on Xarelto instead of Warfarin, and within a day or two, I was peeing blood. Stopped the Xarelto and went back to Warfarin. Dr. had me go to a urologist to check me, and he scoped me and found out I had a kidney stone between my kidney and bladder, that was a 1/2" long and a 1/4" wide. He told me that if they had not found the stone, I would have lost my kidney within a month or so. Never felt any pain whatsoever from the stone.

I guess I was lucky I was put on the Xarelto.

I hope your doctors figure out the proper dosage. Sounds like a little too much. Waking up at night is a good sign that something is wrong. It's good that happened. Keep thinking positive.

Keep us posted.

Not sleeping sucks but in this case was a good thing. Hope you get all straightened out soon. That rat poison sucks. Luckily Vit.K will reverse the darn stuff. At this time there is no drug to reverse Xarelto. Luckily it has a very short half life. Don't know how much Eliquis costs but those Xareltos I take are 90 bucks a pop. But it beats the alternative with A-Fib. What caused the blood loss? Did you cut yourself in some way?

Now that's scary
Lucky you woke up, and i'm glad it worked out ok in the end.
That "ratpoison" is some nasty stuff, but on the same time it does save some lives.
Stay safe
