Anti Gun Protestors

Not only do I not worry about ground invasion I also don't buy into the whole ... Wisconsin has the largest standing army thing. That email thing has been going around for years and it's always some different state. But anyway , looking at the hunters in PA I don't see much happening against an invading force

It was a joke referring to this idiot:

cbs-cbs-evening-news-follow-acbsevening-news-there-are-too-22796215.png

Wow !!! 93 Million a day ..... Wish I had such math skills..

That must be why 96 million Americans are murdered by gun violence every day.

Engage brain, start typing, review.

Sorry to correct you but our carpetbagger idiot governor said it was 93 million people killed by gun violence a day. Hey, doesn't matter, we are all dead!

Thing is that we know the "end game" of the antis. Total disarmament of the civilian population. Don't ever forget that. They may him & haw about "common sense" & "reasonable" or "compromise", but that's just for now. There is no rhetoric that can justify the gun grabbers choice of their actions. James Madison was quite clear in the "Federalist Papers" why he wrote the 2nd Amendment. I'm paraphrasing here, but Madison included the 2nd Amendment because he, and most of our founding fathers believed that the first 8 amendment were a reaffirmation of English Common Law which were God given rights of the people. The Constitution does not grant these rights, it only acknowledges these God given pre-existing rights.

The government should fear the people, not the other way around.

Gov. Terry McCauliffe of Virginia stated gun violence killed 93 million Americans every day, shortly after the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalize. He later said he meant 93 individuals , not millions, every day.

He's an idiot.

Don't get your history-or current affairs-from Hollyweird. How many wars have been fought since 1945-and how many atomic bombs have been dropped ? And when any politician whose family is guarded 24/7 by uniformed officers and plainclothesmen says the ordinary citizen should rely on 911....

Horse is dead ... stop kicking it....nothing you can say to an anti that will make any difference or sense to them.....they aren't that smart.

This is exactly right. Logic and common sense are completely unknown to them.

They only way they MIGHT flip is when they really feel afraid, and there's nothing or nobody to protect them.

Being on the Western side of Arizona the thought of a major disaster in California with 25 million people heading east looking for food and shelter is something to consider......

A very valid concern, and not all that improbable. That could be just as bad as an invasion by the Russians or Chinese.

Something I seldom see, and, in my mind, would be a great rebuttal to anti gun ownership, is that the Anti's never seem to think about the U.S being invaded by ground forces--

Probably because the chances of that happening are slim and none, and Slim's left town. It isn't 1941 any more.

The state of Wisconsin alone, has the largest standing army in the world

Baloney.

...and every one of them would put his life on the line in a moments notice

More baloney. Sliced extra thick, too.

Yamamoto said words to that effect when he was told of the planned attack on Pearl Harbor---"We can not invade the United States, there will be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

Sounds good, doesn't it? Problem is, no documentation exists that proves Yamamota ever said that, or even words to that effect.

Yamamoto was pragmatic, though. Even while talking a good game to his superiors and the emperor, he knew Japan could not win an extended conflict with America and our allies. It's probably just as well he was killed in 1943; that way he didn't have to witness his country's ignominious defeat.

Blow the bridges :D

The bridges in Arizona, from a Minnesota standpoint, are put in for show. The 'rivers" seem to be long stretches of sand and gravel filled with sagebrush. Loose coils of barb wire, on the other hand, would probably confuse and scratch them, causing fear of infection and a retreat.

The Pacific ocean and an already overstretched military probably had more to do with their lack of attack than the rifles behind every blade of grass

Not really concerned about this either. They gotta get to PA! That's a long trip bypassing a lot of states

It took a while, but they got their *** handed to them in the end, it just got delayed for a while we were building the Atomic Bomb.

All very true, but there is a different reason we are not going to be invaded by a foreign enemy or foreign enemies. Just before I retired from the Corps in 1989 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant I got to go to some conferences on strategic military planning. The topic of an invasion of the US was on the agenda. The consensus of the think tank people was that it was not going to happen, ever as long as we maintained our military strength. Here's why.

No nation on earth has the Navy and Air Force we have. Any invader has to get here by three means: 1) by sea, 2)by air, 3) by passage through Canada or Mexico. A sea armada of the size needed to invade the US would be very large and detected enroute. Between our carriers and submarines the only way one of the ships would reach us would be by its destroyed hull washing up on a beach. By air would be even easier to stop because of our air power and air defenses, and even if a few planes got through the ground forces would not stand a chance. Through Mexico or Canada would also end in a disaster for an invader. They would be detected before they landed by ship or plane and destroyed in the water, air, or on land. In short, we are basically invasion proof as long as we maintain force strength.

Keep in mind that the basic formula for invasion is to have a seven to ten man advantage ove the defending force. think Iwo Jima when the estimate of Japanese defenders was set bat 7,000. We went 70,000 Marines to invade. Unfortunately for mu grunt brothers there were actually 22,000 Japanese soldiers there. It was such a devetating fight for Marines because they did not have the force advantage that would have made the job easier. That most not to say that any level of combat is easy.

Now the idea that an internal threat could cause a lot of damage is realistic. There are a lot of guns in the US and in the hands of large numbers of skilled people could cause a lot of harm. One only has to look at the Middle East and Africa of see what harm an in strength militia can cause. In the end, they would perish, but they could do a lot of harm on the path to self destruction.

We actually live in the safest country in the world. And if we ever get the mosslike system that can actually and reliably shoot down an ICBM we are going to be even safer.

And we thought the same in 1941, when somebody managed to sink almost the entire Pacific fleet unimpeded . . .

I don't know about Wisconsin or any other state for that matter...and I sure don't know about the probability of being attacked by ground forces.

I do know, however, that in my little community of 1200, if, by some slim chance, something irregular like that just happened to take place (not that it ever would...but if it did), there wouldn't be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

Nope. But you can bet your bobsled that there would be a rifle, shotgun, and/or handgun of some sort in every pickup truck along with a good ol' boy who knew how to use it.

Somebody once told me that he would hate to face of bunch of ticked off country boys. Knowing some of the men who live around here, I don't blame him.:)

Over 200,000 people a year in the United States are injured in the toilet, shower, bathtub or sinks in the bathroom. We could eliminate a lot of this carnage by removing all bathrooms and soap from our lives. Soap kills people. It is slippery and people don't watch where they are walking.

Wow do I ever know what you mean. After I retired I wine to Tennessee to visit a retired noncom friend. He picked me up at the airport in his pick up truck. We were headed to suburban Nashville. A guy in a car cut him off at a highway exit. My buddy sounded his horn long and hard. The guy in the car showed a baseball bat in the window. My buddy reached across me to the glove compartment and pulled out his 9mm Glock ans fashed it to the guy in the car who sped off very quickly. My response to my buddy was: Het Rhea, I retired to get away from this kind of ****. He responded by saying hey Rich down here some people don't get the message unless,it is,loud and clear. Ok, we stopped and had a beer.
