Any Boy Scouts here?

Any of you Boy Scouts/Ruger 10/22 fans take a look at one of these. It's the Boy Scouts Commemorative rifle.

Troop 9, Panther Patrol. Quincy, IL made 1st class, and many years later was an asst scout master for my son's troop. Still have an Archery award I won at Scout camp in 1955.

Yep. Did the Scout thing. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and for a short time Explorers. Made Eagle by the time I was 16. Spent a few summers working the area camp. Was elected to the Order of the Arrow. The O.A. kept involved in Scouting up until I was about 20 on a council level. Would work for the council at camp for cub events during the falls. It was all good and part of who I am today. I still have friends from those days (30+ years). My first Scout Master (and best) passed away a few months ago. He was very old school. He wouldn't make it today. He was tough. Very fair, but tough. He wanted us to go and do and learn, not just achieve ranks. I went to see him about a year before he passed. He told me then (and I had already figured it out) that he was trying to make good men of us, not just good scouts.

I was in Cubs back in the early 50's.

Was a Cub Master, Scout Master, committee member, merit badge counselor, for about 12 years while my kids were in.

One son was one merit badge from Eagle, and the other one made Eagle.

I know I enjoyed the leadership role, trips, etc as much as my kids enjoyed being scouts.

I'm Cubmaster of my younger son's pack and will be going with them to a Bear den's Summer camp this weekend.

I'm also an Asst. Scoutmaster for my older son's troop and will be going for half of his Summer camp at Camp Parsons in WA in 2 weeks. He just signed up for his first Philmont trip next Summer.

My wife is den leader, too; so we do lots of Scouting.

I started in Cubs, Pack 12, Wake Village, TX. in 1961. Joined Troop 12 when it started in 1964. Went to Camp Pioneer 2 years, then 2 week Eagle camp the 3rd year, was a den chief one year. I never made Eagle. I think I was 2 or 3 merit badges short. I still consider that one of the biggest shortcomings of my life. I respect all you Eagles, and love it when my local paper prints the pictures of new Eagles. I still have my patches and badges.

made it to star and then started play high school football, wish i would have finished. as i recall i wasn't that far away, football got me know where being a eagle scout would have been cool.

i did serve on staff at camp gordon(upstate NY on waneta lake) for 4 years, one of the largest scout camp still running today.

Ah, High Adventure! Eagle Scout 1985. My scoutmaster ran that troop like his own personal Army. We went on many trips - Boundary Waters, Quetico, Current River, Hiking in Colorado Flat Tops Wilderness, winter camping with no tents. The younger scouts went to the local Council camp for 1 week. Numerous weekend camps, hiking, projects, and monthly paper drives to raise money.

One summer, I went to four (4) week long camps. What a great year!

I would of never stuck with it if my Dad had not been very involved. THANKS DAD!

In 1991, Scoutmaster actually died in the Boundary Waters of a heart attack, age 55. This was on an adult trip with three other men, at least there were no young scouts along. He died doing what he loved, in the wilderness he loved. He is still missed, but the Troop lives on.

Troop 750, Towson Maryland in the mid-sixties.
Currently on my 12th year in my neighborhood troop.
I would LOVE to get my hands on one of those commemorative 10-22's !

Troop 33, Sioux Council, Webster SD, Eagle Scout & OA Brotherhood. I also was a COPE and Climbing instructor at Lewis & Clark Boy Scout Camp near Yankton SD. I had a lot of good times in scouts and have been an Asst. Scout Master when I wasn't living in the midde of nowhere. Once that changes, I will volunteer again.

Troop 222 in Tulsa, OK. Didn't make Eagle. Our troop leader was a hippie and we all followed his lead!

Eagle Scout, Vigil OA, Silver Beaver and getting ready to head to the 2010 Boy Scout National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill, Virginia for two and a half weeks. No guns but it don't get too much better! Eaglebeaver

Troop 14, Tamarac Council, Sacred Heart Parish, Bloomfield, NJ. 1958 - 1964. I went to Camp Tamarac in '61, '62 and '63. I was a First Class Scout. Scoutmasters: Mr. Egan, Mr. Grillo and Mr. Ryan. Uncle Ken was an Eagle Scout, Pop was a Life Scout and Uncle Bill was a Star Scout. My cousin's husband was a Scout executive and moved with HQ from NJ to TX. Troop 14 was blessed with its own campsite in the wilds of Bergen County, NJ on the grounds of the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, not far from Camp Glen Gray. The campsite had a stone cabin but the slob hunters would break in every autumn and use the bunk frames for firewood so each spring there was a work party to fix the door and build new bunks.

Thanks for the memories, I loved Scouting, it was a bright spot in an otherwise bitter school experience. I was off to high school in '64 and school, sports and girls took its place. I never got back to it but I was an active dad in my daughter's Girl Scouting. A couple of other former Scout dads and I provided the experience base for a few camping adventures for the girls and their leaders.

Star and OA.

I was in a BSA Troop in England when Dad was stationed there, and we camped in all kinds of weather. It was a bit of a disappointment when we came back stateside and the troop would cancel camping trips if there was a hint of inclement weather.

Troop 118, Athens, TN. Scotty Mayfield of Mayfield's Dairy Farms was my scout master.

Star Scout, OA

Cub Scout leader for Wolf, Bear, Webelos I, Webelos II.

Son crossed over w/Arrow of Light in Feb. Says he'll be first in family to get Eagle. Great kid, I think he will.

Still very active, getting into a leadership role again as soon as I
can figure it all out - it's very different than Cubs.
