Ah, High Adventure! Eagle Scout 1985. My scoutmaster ran that troop like his own personal Army. We went on many trips - Boundary Waters, Quetico, Current River, Hiking in Colorado Flat Tops Wilderness, winter camping with no tents. The younger scouts went to the local Council camp for 1 week. Numerous weekend camps, hiking, projects, and monthly paper drives to raise money.
One summer, I went to four (4) week long camps. What a great year!
I would of never stuck with it if my Dad had not been very involved. THANKS DAD!
In 1991, Scoutmaster actually died in the Boundary Waters of a heart attack, age 55. This was on an adult trip with three other men, at least there were no young scouts along. He died doing what he loved, in the wilderness he loved. He is still missed, but the Troop lives on.
