I have a S&W Mdl. 66-2 2.5" barrel that is engraved on the left side of the frame, below the cylinder CCPD 7XX. Is this the way that the Corpus Christi PD identified their revolvers? The engraving is well done, in block letters about 1/8" tall. It could be an ex Corpus PD gun, or some other PD that would have CC initials. I would like to know.

That's how Corpus Christi marked their 4" M15s. Finn Aagaard wrote about his in the November 1991 American Rifleman, titled "Putting Number 208 Back in the Harness." His had an "X" stamped before C.C.P.D. to indicate retirement from service.

Thanks for that information TxShooter. Finn was one of my favorite writers. I'm going to try and find that article.

With best regards,
Jeff

I bought a 64-2, made in '80. It has CCPD 432 on the left side. It's a really nice looking snub with a pinned barrel!
