Any Corvette owners?

Nice! Those were the golden years for bikes as far as I am concerned. I had thirty accident free years under my belt when I got married...was riding less and less and finally gave my last bike to my older brother. My wife would not ride on a motorcycle but loves convertibles; I got the Cobra for a 50th Birthday Present. It is basically a four wheeled motorcycle!

Used to be. Was a Corvette nut since I was old enough to say the word. Always lusted for a '66 427/450/4-speed Maroon/Black coupe with side pipes, but never could pull off a deal. Knew most of their history until the the end of the Shark series in 1982. Interest waned a bit... then came the Dodge Viper and never looked back. I always thought after the Sharks, the Corvette should have had the Viper body design (and engine!). Oh well, I'm happy with my Viper now.

1966 427 convertible

Favorite body style!

One day I was walking my dog and my childhood friend's father pulled up beside me in what I believe was a 1965 with a 350 HP 327 CI Small Block Chevy...

"Want a lift?"
"No thank you I'm walking my dog."
"I don't care, get in." (he was headed up the hill to a party and had probably already started.)
Got in and set the dog on my lap.

He left the stop sign and turned left onto Steilacoom Blvd.

...ZOOM!

My dog somehow managed to scrape her head across my chest and looked up into my eyes.

"ARE YOU FLIPPIN' CRAZY!"

:o

Quickest car I've ever been in.

Somebody tell me if the new C8's are reliable to live with. Mid-engine servicing and DCT concerns me a bit. I'm hooked on Lexus reliability and it would be nice to have a sporty C8 with no maintenance drama.

Zero issues…

…with my C8.

There are certain service requirements to maintain warranty coverage. The car will remind you.

Do not worry.

Be safe.

But the older ones are very simple to fix. Every small town in America has a mechanic shop that can get a small block Chevy back on the road with parts in stock at any auto parts store. Once on the way back from a show the alternator started to act up on the '73. Pulled in to Auto Zone, bought a new one and installed it in the parking lot. Try that with a new KIA!

Get a c6. The LS3 is super simple, bullet proof, and there is no drama. (and way less expensive).

Get the manual tranny too! No DCT concerns and more fun!

My toy cars have to have a manual transmission. I can understand an automatic if you live in the city and have a stop and go commute, but when I am driving for fun I want to select the gears myself.

Well, it does seem to be something more than just a "belief"... just sayin'...:)

"Auto research firm Edmunds reports 33% of Corvette buyers were age 65 or older in 2019, up from about 28% in 2013. About 61% of buyers were 55 or older through 2019, according to Edmunds."

Chevy'''s new mid-engine Corvette needs Gen X and millennial buyers to succeed

That's because the older you get, the more money you have! (Usually).

Plus the kids are gone, etc. The Corvette is a fairly impractical vehicle for a younger family unless you just have tons of money.

I agree. I own a C6 and they've lost me as a customer of new cars since they are now automatic only.

If I buy more Corvettes, they will be pre-owned, I guess!

On my fourth one now. It's an 89 six speed coupe with both painted and lexan roof panels from the factory. Just turned 82k miles. I've had two C5's and enjoyed them, but the C4 has always been a favorite for some reason. Just feels more raw and traditional sports car to me. The 89 is cool because it's the first year of the ZF six speed, and last year of the Atari dashboard, which just reminds me of my teenage years. I keep thinking I will sell it, but I will just want another C4 if I do.

Stick shifts are great if you live in a city with hills
like San Francisco. :D
Fun times back in the '60s.
These days you can tell who knows how to find neutral on a motorcycle in South Florida, as most hold the clutch handle in until the light turns green.

A buddy always drove Vettes and loved them except for the Crossfire engine.
He messed up in our sailboat and it took a knock down. After we got it up, he handed me the keys to that Vette.

My boy just bought a really fast Tesla.
His Mrs has a lead foot as well.
