Can't let the bass players take all the glory!

My Gretsch 125th Anniversary Bop Kit.

Noble & Cooley got their start making marching drums during the Civil War. They still make drums in the same town in Massachusetts. I call these "The Mothership":

What do you call a no talent bum who hangs out with the band?

In my experience, a "manager".
You've got real-deal managers, then you've got just a guy, usually on the lizardly side, who latches on and causes problems. Sometimes the line gets blurry, even with the Big Boys. We call those types, "Colonel Toms".

Bassplayer....glory....hahahahahahah! :D :D

You heard the one about the bass player that locked his keys in the car?
It took him three hours to get the drummer out.

(inset rimshot here)

Love your Gretch set. I have a Gretch beginners level kit, but I'm a complete hack.

And just to be fair.....:D

Do you know how to get a bassplayer off of your porch?
Pay him for the pizza.

I have a 1976 set of Ludwig's similar to your top set. Mine are in champagne pearl.

No rhythm

Though I'm a classical musician, I haven't one ounce of rhythm. If there is a negative score for rhythm I could attain that that. My adopted son, however, has great natural talent and creativity as a drummer. One way I know I'm not his biological father is that he sure didn't inherit his skill from me. The shame is that he started drums young, progressed rapidly for several years then got interested in other things. Well, he can come back to it someday if he wants. It's up to him.:)

If I do have one complaint all he does 'musically' nowadays is listen to really perverse rap 'music'. Note the quotes.

About drummers,

A good drummer is worth his weight in beer or wine.

A good drummer is always late yet always on time.

A good drummer can read your mind..

A good drummer is hard to find.

I miss my friend Kurt.

I have a '68 Ludwig set in White Marine Pearl that I started out on. About ten years ago, I figured if I bought a 6 piece Yamaha Maple Custom set in turquoise laquer, I'd sound better.....I DID sound better, but I didn't play any better!

Blujax01, one of the best drummers I ever worked with used Gretsch drums. Wasn't their slogan "That Great Gretsch Sound"? Or something like that. In any case he was quite the percussionist, & his drums sounded sweet.
