Any ideas on value of Model 13-3

Hey folks, my nephew is interested in selling his S&W Model 13-3. It dates to around 1982-83 if I recall correctly, has a 3" barrel and factory original stocks. The mechanical condition is excellent and finish is very nice, probably some minor carry wear. As soon as he sends me photos I will put them up here. It is a gun originally issued to the North Carolina SBI.

I know next to nothing about this particular model. Any help as to value would be greatly appreciated. I know, I know....photos needed. I know how to research gunbroker completed sales etc, but would like to see what the brain trust here thinks. My nephew is not looking to squeeze every last penny out of it, just sell it at a reasonable price in a reasonable amount of time.

Nice looking. As youre aware I'm sure, 3" K's seem magical sometimes when talking price. I wont even list an amount but as a reminder and to be honest, you can always come down if overpriced.

What is SBI? Is it so marked?

I had to ask my nephew about SBI. State Bureau of Investigation. No marks on it.

A 13-3 in that condition should be worth $1200 easily, probably more, because demand for 3" 13's is insane right now. Best of luck with your son's sale.
