Folks,

I just purchased a S&W Factory 4006 LEO Magazine.

There's a metal dimple on the front of the magazine. This dimple is preventing me from inserting the mag into my pistol.

Has anyone seen these mags?

God Bless!!!

All my 4006 mags have a dimple, there is a groove in the mag well for it. I think it is to keep the mags from fitting in a 5906.

Revcharlie, All 4006 mags have a dimple in the front to keep from being inserted in 59 and 69 series guns as pilot99 said.

OK, perhaps I am missing something here. Everything posted is correct as far as I know: (1) there is a dimple on the 4006 mag, (2) it prevents insertion into the 9mm 59 series pistols.

Thus, if you were trying to put the 4006 mag with dimple in your 4006, why did you have trouble inserting it? And, why has no one addressed that question?

Or, were you trying to use a 4006 magazine in a pistol other than the 4006? In which case, that would not have been wise.

What gives?

The person I purchased the magazine from told me it would fit/function in a 5906 and 6904.

I'm sure if I ground the dimple off it would function fine.

However, I will most likely post it for sale rather than get into an argument with a friend over $20!!!!!!

God Bless!!!

The feedlips are a bit wider on the 40 than the 9mm mags, it might function but I'd never bet my life on it. The 5900/6900 mags are a bit wider and usually won't go into a 40 frame, the dimple was to keep the them out of those frames. One exception I've found is the Shorty-Fortys for some reason will take the 6900 mags.

REVCHARLIE,
I hope that's not one I sent you back in January. If so, let me know as maybe I sent along the wrong one....

SmithNut,

Thanks for asking!

I purchased this magazine from a friend over this past weekend.

I didn't know for sure when I bought it if it would fit/work. However, I'm guessing he's having money problems with all the items for sale and that have been sold by (John Doe) lately?

God Bless!!!

RevCharlie -

If you just need a range mag, I think that I have a 17rd Eagle mag left that more or less works. It feeds ball into my 5903 anyway. If you send me a SASE envelope, you can have it to play around with if you want it.

Otherwise, if you can find them, the MecGar 17rd mags work great and only run about 20 bucks or so.
