Good evening. I am new to this forum and i just wanted to know if anyone had any info on this old revolver (or whats left of it):) that i found in a box of movie props from at a local estate sale. It is marked .38 spl ctg* on the left side of the barrel and also has the letter P stamped in front of the trigger guard. The right side it is marked Smith & Wesson and has the Smith and wesson logo. Above the cylinder its marked Revolver, Lightweight, M13 and on the back of the grips its marked Property of U.S. Air Force. The grips also have some letters and numbers etched on them and there is a number on the bottom of the grips c367695. It would be interesting to find out the history on this oldy. Its a bummer to find a neat old gun in this condition but on the bright side i am the proud new owner of a 686 ssr that my wife purchased for me.

Can you post some pictures?
There are alot of fake Model 13's out there but perhaps you have stumbled onto some legitamite parts from an original?

Go back and buy it! Right now! They are fairly rare and expensive!

Welcome to the forum!

Try to post some photos. Sounds like it's interesting, but doesn't (from your description) seem to be a genuine USAF 13. I believe the "Property of" was on the left side topstrap, both on the genuine models ....and on the fakes.

Cheers;
Lefty

Lefty,

Sorry but that's wrong. He has described the right markings. The SN is in the right range and it probably shipped originally to Norton AFB in Fall 1956.

The M13 looks legit but it has been torched, of course, like most of the others. The other guns are toys made in the 1950s by a company named Lytle's. They had 16 different types of popular handguns.
