Has anyone seen or know of a company that can make a locking style holster similar to the blackhawk, safari land, etc but has leather backing or belt loops? I don't mind most of the holster being kydex or whatever, but I am meaning the looped part or backing so that it would provide a little more comfort?

I've tried googling but not getting a lot back on the subject.

Thanks

I appreciate all the help guys.

Is Bianchi basically the main big company that makes the leather locking holsters? That's who I seem to see most of the time when searching and it also looks like Safariland actually owns bianchi from what I can see.

Do you mean retention holsters, or a leather holster you can lock the gun in? There are a number of leather retention holsters, Safariland has several. DeSantis has some leather holsters with a padlock hole through the trigger guard, effectively disabling the weapon for storage.

I mean actual locking the gun in place either through form of having to hit a release button that locks the firearm in or at least unclip a strap that goes over the weapon while in.

Not just the standard retention. Sorry about that, I guess I should have specified.

It seems as if any good options they have, they don't make for the Shield.

OK, that IS a retention holster. There are different levels of retention. Retention holsters are meant to make someone else grabbing your gun more difficult. Holsters that you can lock are meant for secure storage or transport. The locking holsters were designed for armed commercial flight crews to secure their weapons while not on their person. I believe the lack of retention holsters for the Shield is because it's meant for concealment, not open carry.

Yeah which I can understand, I just feel better having retention on the weapons either in case of being pulled out or knocked around.

There is a decent amount of a retention holsters for the shield in kydex or others like that, but very few if no options that are hybrid kydex/leather or leather that have retention other than just the obvious retention of the holster being formed or tight around the gun.

Then add in only wanting it to be OWB which narrows the options even more for a gun that is marketed for concealed carry, and it limits my options even more.

I guess I am just going to have to pick and choose what is most important to me, and what I can do without.

One of the few places to get a custom holster with a thumb break: https://blackhillsleather.com/concealed-leather-holster/thumb-break.html

I ended up going with the Bianchi 75. The only one that I can find that is OWB, leather, solid belt loop attached, and some good form of retention that will fit the Shield outside of having one custom made.
