As you know, Ahrends is no longer in business.

Looking for something like this:

Altamont makes something similar in their combat gips, but the Altamont grips are a bit thicker (about 0.08" or so) at the base, and I prefer the slightly thinner Ahrends. Altamonts are below:

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Looking for combat, not boot grips, with an exposed backstrap.

I can always thin the Altamont grips, I suppose, but the result will look kind of, well, crappy....

Thanks,
PEF

Instead of looking for a "manufacturer", why not consider supporting an individual dedicated craftsman?

A good place to start is Craig Spegel:

Craig Spegel - Custom Pistol Grips

They cost more, but are one accessory that can actually serve to enhance the value of your firearm. Plus, they can usually make your grip to the size you want, rather than stick you with their choice.

Here's his N frame Boot Grip.

The factory (S&W) did produce J frame combat grips. They are not that common, but you can find them periodically. I know of a set right now for sale (another collector) and believe the price is $250.00.

Look at KSD grips from Turkey. I recall that they make J-frame boot-type grips. Several of the Thai makers on Ebay do, too. I have a few of those and I'm quite happy with them.

The old Uncle Mike's rubber grips were a licenced copy of Spegels grips..place to start and get on the list.

I've had a set of his extended Boot grips on my 3"60-10 for years..... would think they would meet your needs
