Also known as the 22/32 Kit Gun, a real sweet little gun!

I have a newer (non pinned) 2" nickle version. It's great fun to shoot and a cheap way to practice shooting a J frame. Personally, I don't quite get the target sights on a 2" J frame, but that's how they come. Mine is a 34-1.

I enjoy shooting my S&W 34-1 4" .22LR Revolver.
A well made kit gun.

Best kit gun ever made. Those that have them know that, which is why it's hard to find any on sale.

I have a 34-1. They have a tighter chamber tolerances than other 22s I have had. You have to keep them clean.

About 2 years ago I got the hankering for a 34. Now I have 2"'/4" blue, 2"/4" Nickel & 2"/4" stainless(63's). I love them all. Hard to shoot? Yes. But lots lots fun and accurate if you do your part.
BTW....Lots of them on Gunbroker. Wait till one shows up at a price you can afford. Then ENJOY!

Model 34-1 with 6" barrel

vrichard, Any info on the 34-1 with 6" barrel. Was it a barrel swap? As far as I know the 34 was never offered with a 6" barrel, especially in a round butt. That would be the 22/32 heavy frame, also known as the Bekeart, from the first run starting in 1911. And much later as the model 35 (a real hard one to find for sale) The 34 is usually the last to go from any collection being thinned down. Fun and really cheap to shoot, that's why people keep them for decades and with the rising price of ammo lately, this trend shows little sign of slowing down.

All the best,
Ischia

34-1 blue 4" SB
34-2 blue 2" RB
34-1 nickel 2" RB
34-1 nickel 4" RB
35-1 blue 6" SB
35-1 blue 6" SB flat latch
51 blue 3 1/2" SB .22 mag. not a 34 but a fun J frame to shoot and also tough to find.

Allen,

I just bought a 34-1 2" sq. butt model several weeks ago with which to practice trigger control for my carry piece. They are quite a challenge to shoot with consistent accuracy in double action, especially one-handed. Will take a lot of practice I'm sure.

My 6 in.34-1 was shipped 6/1/71 with a 2 in.barrel, but I think the 2 in. barrel was replaced with the 6 in.barrel at the factory since the face of the cyl.has the serial # on it.I understand they some time put the serial # on the cyl.when they do work on a gun.Any other M prefix 34`s has the serial # on the cyl?

Good call. The front sight is just the same as both of my model 35's. That's what S&W did ,I believe. One S&W should have offered and I'm on the lookout for a barrel to convert my nickel RB 2" to 6". probably have to re-nickel the barrel as I've never seen or heard of a nickel model 35.

The model 34 is my favorite snubby .22 revolver. It took me nearly a year of constant looking before I found a super clean 34-2 here in the classifieds. Replaced the original grips with NOS S&W 'banana' grips from Numrich. Made the gun easier to handle whilst keeping the compact profile.

i just fondled a pre-34 4" flat latch rund butt at a gunshow this weekend. real nice shape. slight turn ring, original grips. $675. it was tempting but i have a 34-1 so my appetite was low. still thinking on it. i know where the shop is and i think they'll deal a bit.

Did you go to the auction yesterday? Just curious as to how it went and the condition of the Model-34 they had.

They tend to be hard to find around here althought S&W probably made a bunch of them. I guess people are reluctant to sell them. I know mine are not for sale. Here is the only picture I have now and it is also in another thread on the forum but, it is just one of a few I managed to find over the years.
