Any Model 67 fans out there?

Wow, Thanks for all the great responses to this thread. You guys take some good looking pictures also. One thing I have noticed is that the 67 looks great wearing a variety of stocks...Hogues, Magnas, Targets, Pearl. bigun: Your Targets are outstanding on that gun.

The M67 is probably the one S&W I still "need" and these pictures don't help a bit. I should have been buying 15s and 67s in the day instead of .44 Magnums--which are now either collecting dust or gone.

GREAT little guns.

You said it Bat! I've been to preoccupied with hi-cap 9mm, and Magnums myself! It's high time I find a 67 to call my own as well. Dale

Love mine and it was the first gun I ever bought.

Just noticed this thread. I have a no-dash 67 that I bought new in the summer of '72. I wrote an account and posted a couple pics in the more recent thread about what 67s originally cost in '72, so I won't repeat it here......but will post another pic that I didn't in that thread! My gun has quite a history and I agree with the posters here who love theirs. I originally bought it to carry backpacking, and did that every summer of the decade between '72 and '82. It has become one of my more fabled guns.

Bigun, nice 67! Beautiful wood on it too! I have a 67 no dash from 1973 wearing Herrett Targets (currently) All stainless rear sights. Enjoy that 67! Bob

I was issued one when I worked corporate security with the power company, before they went to Glock 40's.
I was well pleased with mine, great revolver.

I bought one in 1990 that was one of a batch turned in by Georgia Power. All but a few were stamped as such, but I took one that was not. It was in the original box with the correct serial number [6K69,,,].

Hard to believe she was made in 1971 and still looks this good....

Just checked and the Model 67 wasnt introduced until 1972 although Im guessing more shipped in 1973.

BTW...
I cannot believe S&W didnt make a .22lr version of the Model 67 as a regular cataloged item...
Im guessing its because the Model 18 existed and was available in Nickel and they were busy making SS guns for law enforcement,
But a SS Model 18 is one of my dream guns,
Might just have to Hard chrome a Model 18 as the next best thing instead.

Anyone out there have one hard chromed already?

67 gunleather

Just picked up this Safariland belt with .38 loops (12) and a Bianchi holster for the 67 at the local used parts bin. The suede lined belt is perfect for trail carry.

Wouldn't that just be a 4" 617?

No it wouldn't. We are talking about the sleek lines of the tapered barrel, narrow rib lines of the early 67s, and the 18. That would be an ideal K-22. The 617 has no resemblance to a 67 or 18.

Thought I'd revive this one.

In the late 80s I bought my first S&W, a 686-1 6", and I still have that one. About 8 years ago a friend gave me a nickel Model 10 because he could no longer shoot and he felt the gun was more of a liability to him in his condition. That M10 started me on K frames. A few K frames later, including another M10 and a 14-4, and I just bought a 67 no dash that I pick up tomorrow- we have a 3 day wait. It looks like it was shot a little and put in the proverbial nightstand drawer. The lock up is great-like a new gun. It still has its stainless steel sights and magnas. The SN is 3k81xxx which I think puts it at a first year gun. I'll post photos after I pick it up.

What's not to like. My no dash 67 is a favorite. Interestingly enough, it is the tightest S&W revolver I own.

One of my favorite Smith and Wessons! I had my tired, old cop's gun re-done. She had her sharp edges worn smooth by many, many presentations from the holster.

The S&W emblems were worn away. I had her front sight changed out for a new Trijicon unit, as well as her hammer and trigger polished and radiused for fast DA work.

I did the action job on her by stoning/polishing the rebound slide and changing the rebound spring to a 14 lbs unit. Perfect (and smooth) 9 lbs DA pull. I don't do SA, so it doesn't matter.

The gun shoots perfectly with my SD/HD load of the R-P 125gr Golden Saber +P BJHP. It's moving at approx. 1000 fps and is damn good Felon Repellent.

The grips are Ahrends Retro Combats in Bocote (Cordia). They feel as good as they look.

My rendition of the 'modern' Combat Masterpiece...

.....
I had her front sight changed out for a new Trijicon unit, /QUOTE]

Did S&W remove the FS and mill in the channel for the replacement front site?
If so did they have to remove the barrel ?
Also how long ago was it done and do you know what they charge ?

I want to do this mod to one of my Smiths .

49 Guy,

I actually sent the stripped gun to Chris McVety at Amerigun in North Branch, MI. Chris and his Team of artisans milled off the front sight (if the sight was originally pinned all the better) and milled a Woodruff cut into the Baughman ramp. they fit a Trijicon front sight (or will make one) with a Tritium insert and pin the affair into the Baughman ramp.

I've had them do quite a few revolvers for me. Their work is first rate. I can't recommend them enough.

Hope this helps!
