Any more no lock models coming?

I just bought a 45 LC, 25-10, with no lock. It still has the frame mounted firing pin. It's from the PC so it might be an odd ball.

Agreed. I am REALLY not a fan of cerakote. DLC is so much more wear resistant, and when it does finally wear it does so in a pattern similar to bluing. Flaked off chips of cerakote look so trashy on a gun.

With the 640 at least, it's stainless underneath, so at least rust will be less of a potential issue than with the Model 19 Carry Comp.

You can even get a very polished look with some of these newer coatings so long as you polish the surface first. Look up Cryptic Coatings' AR BCGs for proof of that.

I am not surprised in the least that they are waiting for inventory of Lock guns to sell out before introducing no-lock guns of the same model.

I am surprised they had so much inventory on hand for it to take months to sell through.

It is a good thing though. glad to see it.

Mebbe just Mebbe..........They'll reshape the frames to look like those of yore.........Unstead the high shoulders the swallow/hide the hammer.

Maybe, but I seem to recall reading somewhere years ago that the reshaped frames are more a result of the frame-mounted firing pin rather than the storage lock. Maybe there's something to that since even though the CNC program would have been changed for the no-lock guns their frames are still the new style.

The new no-IL 19 Carry Comp 2.5" is out

The new no-IL 19 Carry Comp 2.5" is now in stock at several stores. I actually like the green Cerakote. I take good care of my guns so being carbon steel does not concern me that it will rust where the Cerakote and matte bluing will wear off. Don't care about the porting but I heard it reduces barrel flip and felt recoil substantially. Also this new 2.5" 19 has the ball detent and the stronger forcing cone. I like it and think I'll order one.

I’m happy to see this. I still remember seeing the newspaper headline about the Clinton Smith and Wesson deal. I bought the paper and read the article. Then I canceled my order for a 686.

I do enjoy some of the older revolvers, but there are new ones that I would like to use that I have not purchased because of the lock. I would like a 66 no lock, and a 69 no lock. 315 and 386 Night guards without locks would be great.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Model 66 is the next no-lock gun we see. I mean, aside from stainless vs carbon, it's the exact same gun as the new 19 no-lock, so I think it would be a logical next step. The gun I'd have a hard time saying no to would be if they made the little Model 60 pro series with the 3", slab-sided barrel in no-lock.

Wake me when they make a no-lock 25 or 625.
Read above, someone bought a 25 and it came in with no lock? I just dug through the entire revolver catalog online and you can actually see they’ve been deliberately removing images of the left side of the pistol on many SKUs and some have updated photos with no lock. The 341C 22 Mag J frame for example. No lock depicted anymore and it’s not mentioned anywhere. It’s just gone.

The 25-10 was made 25 years ago.

I welcome the lockless models for several reasons. One is aesthetics and another is ease and cost-savings to manufacture. Not to mention, one less mechanical monstrosity to malfunction. In addition to the reasons noted, I'm hoping it's a return to sanity from all the do-gooder, politically correct fantasizers that forced this asinine BS on the consumer to start with.
I have 2 "locked" models (Governor & M500) that I've plugged and have no intention of replacing them with a lockless version if/when they become available. For what it's worth (not much), it's my way of protesting the lock and not offering it as an option.
In addition to the preferred (and lack of certain) features of the older models, it's my insignificant way of payback for perpetrating S&W corporate's nonsense on their customers.

I called S&W and asked if they had a schedule for no lock model releases, and they said no. They have to wait til Production tells them. I’m waiting for the 627 PC…

Perhaps on the J-frames, but there were variants of the K-frames before the lock but after the frame mounted firing pin, and their frame curves were *much* closer to those of the pre-lock guns.

I was at an industry show in Feb and the Smith & Wesson reps said that going forward (it may take a little bit of time) the lock will be deleted from all revolver models.

I own 12 S&W revolvers, 11 are from the mid 80's or older so they do not have the IL. The newest one is a recent product 642 also without the hole. There are several models I have wanted to buy, such as the Performance Center Model 19, but could not bring myself to do so because I can't stand the thought of owning one with the hole.

Same, same here...I bought a new 642 PC last year
I specified NO lock. Prior to that a Mod 36 circa 1982 was the newest then receding back to 1878 #3 Russian.
And just last week a Mod 15-2 circa 1967.
My avatar is my M1917.

I’m betting the marketing gurus will dictate they charge more for guns without the feature ever though it’s simpler to make them without it.
