Agreed. I am REALLY not a fan of cerakote. DLC is so much more wear resistant, and when it does finally wear it does so in a pattern similar to bluing. Flaked off chips of cerakote look so trashy on a gun.
Mebbe just Mebbe..........They'll reshape the frames to look like those of yore.........Unstead the high shoulders the swallow/hide the hammer.
Start pinning barrels, recessing magnum cylinders, and old school hammer nose and I’d be in for a new one.
Good read, Thanks for sharing!Take it for what it's worth: Evolutionary Improvements in S&W Revolvers – RevolverGuy.Com
I was surprised to find out that by the 1950s the "pinned barrels" really weren't.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Model 66 is the next no-lock gun we see. I mean, aside from stainless vs carbon, it's the exact same gun as the new 19 no-lock, so I think it would be a logical next step. The gun I'd have a hard time saying no to would be if they made the little Model 60 pro series with the 3", slab-sided barrel in no-lock.I’m happy to see this. I still remember seeing the newspaper headline about the Clinton Smith and Wesson deal. I bought the paper and read the article. Then I canceled my order for a 686.
I do enjoy some of the older revolvers, but there are new ones that I would like to use that I have not purchased because of the lock. I would like a 66 no lock, and a 69 no lock. 315 and 386 Night guards without locks would be great.
Read above, someone bought a 25 and it came in with no lock? I just dug through the entire revolver catalog online and you can actually see they’ve been deliberately removing images of the left side of the pistol on many SKUs and some have updated photos with no lock. The 341C 22 Mag J frame for example. No lock depicted anymore and it’s not mentioned anywhere. It’s just gone.Wake me when they make a no-lock 25 or 625.

Maybe, but I seem to recall reading somewhere years ago that the reshaped frames are more a result of the frame-mounted firing pin rather than the storage lock. Maybe there's something to that since even though the CNC program would have been changed for the no-lock guns their frames are still the new style.
I was at an industry show in Feb and the Smith & Wesson reps said that going forward (it may take a little bit of time) the lock will be deleted from all revolver models.
I own 12 S&W revolvers, 11 are from the mid 80's or older so they do not have the IL. The newest one is a recent product 642 also without the hole. There are several models I have wanted to buy, such as the Performance Center Model 19, but could not bring myself to do so because I can't stand the thought of owning one with the hole.
