Any owners warmed up to 30-SC

I do not understand the hostility towards the 30 SC. Its offers more capacity and decent power in the same size gun. With ammo that costs about the same as 380, 38 Special or any other handgun cartridge except 9mm.

I know people that own a Shield Plus, P365, G43 and often multiple copies or variations of those guns because one offers an ever so slight advantage over the ones they already own. I am guilty of that myself. The internet seems fine with companies making very similar versions of small 9mm guns. Nobody said the Shield Plus was doomed and soon to be a collectors item because it is about the same size, weight and capacity as a P365. But when the 30 SC came out everyone seems to hate it instead of recognizing it as another choice that makes sense for some people.

I don't own one yet but might someday.

Julie Golob had a great video comparison of the 30SC, 9mm and one other cartridge (it has been a while but I think it was either a 45 or 357). Anyway, she overlaid the three pistols in slow motion so you could see the difference in recoil/muzzle flip. I believe it is posted on S&W's website if anyone is interested.

I'm thinking that a polymer-frame, double stack 1911-A1 could hold around 20 of those rascals.

......either an example of something that could be done, but probably shouldn't, or my next "couldabin" million-dollar idea. Perhaps I should call Taurus.

Why does this seem familiar? Because it's in-line with other handgun cartridges regardless of caliber.
So you are saying it has no advantage other than 1-3 more rounds in the magazine. How many defensive shootings hinge on 11 rounds instead of 10? Or 15 rounds instead of 12? I am not at all against 30SC, I am just not in the market. It's about double the price of 9mm and I have a many year's supply of 9mm, 40, 45 reloading components.

My thoughts exactly. I don't need to adopt another caliber - especially now, when ammo and reloading supplies are already scarce for the well-established calibers I already shoot and reload.

If someone comes out with an innovative new compact carry gun that is the size of a Seacamp 32acp or even a Ruger LCP to provide significantly better ballistics in the same package, I'm interested.

But, as long as they are just modifying existing designs (like the Shield) to add a round or two, it doesn't really do anything much for me.

So for now, not interested - just another boutique round - until someone does something really interesting with it...

I know she is. She wasn't really promoting the 30SC, but the part I found interesting was the video overlay of the pistols being fired. I had not seen anyone do a comparison like that before. It was interesting if a person is of a curious type.

Worked up 50 hand-loads and hit the range today. Most were upper mid-range loads with Lee 100 grain cast round nose and the rest were 85 and 100 grain XTPs. All functioned 100% and most were very accurate. The top 85XTPs averaged 1351fps (345# energy) and the 100XTPs avg 1217fps (329# energy) so not too shabby for the new 32 cal kid on the block. Longshot loads with the 100XTP were all chrono-ing at 1300+fps for some reason while calculated to only be around 1250-1275fps so I'll have to retest those next week.

Since I think that a 1911 in 45acp has a sufficient capacity (7 or 8) for anyone I may encounter, I'm not impressed with large capacity handguns.

Aside from the often feared, but never seen zombie apocalypse, I can't imagine a purpose for the 30SC for me.

One to three extra rounds dose not justify the cost for me. Maybe if the round drops below 9mm pricing.
