Any possible new SD versions in the future?

I really like my SD9VE, but wouldn't mind seeing either a SD45VE, or some sort of compact version of the 9/40. Due to the price point S&W is aiming at, I doubt either will ever happen, especially if a .45acp wouldn't fit the existing frame & slide, but one can hope.

What do you folks think?

I don't think we'll see any of the above. Many Sigma fans wanted a Sigma in 45 acp but it never happened. With all the M&P offerings there isn't much need to expand the SD. In my opinion, the SD exists to get those on a budget into a Smith, in hopes that they will become higher dollar customers in the future. It's probably a good strategy because many have upgraded to the M&P line.

I may be an M&P buyer at some point, but I have no plans whatsoever in letting my SD go. ;)

I started out with the SD9VE 8-2-2014. Since then, I've added the M&P 45 FS and the M&P 9 FS. I have no intentions of letting the SD9VE go and it is still my EDC. The M&P's may be a step up, but I'm still comfortable with the SD. It's a great pistol at a very attractive price, IMO. And yes, an SD45VE has been wished for by a few of us; it would be a great addition to the line, to my way of thinking, anyway :-)

For the same reasons many believe the Glock 19 to be the best all around Glock, I believe the SD9 is S&W's best all around semi auto. I don't need a smaller version or any other calibers. It's big enough to fight with, small enough to conceal year round, holds a good amount of ammo, and is reliable. I didn't buy the SD9 because it was $330, I bought it because I was looking for a Glock 19 alternative. I could've bought the full size M&P, but I don't think I would've been gaining anything except one extra round in the magazine.
