I purchased an estate last summer and ended up with 3 vintage pellet rifles which I have been doing research on so I can put them up for sale someplace.

These include a very clean Sheridan Blue Streak Model CB in .5mm/.20 Cal with original box and tag from Montgomery Ward and made in 1971

And a pair of early Crosman rifles.....the older one is from the 1930's and is most likely the Model 102 repeater in .22 Cal and the other is a bit newer Model 140 also in .22 Cal. The Model 140's were made from 1957-1961

Was curious if any of you folks have owned these particular rifles either in your youth or currently??

Old school pellet rifles

Hey there, I have about every single one of them and usually shoot one or two every day at my construction yard! Today I shoot a Sheridan 5 mm. Probably one of my favorites. But I guess I say that about whatever I'm shooting that day! I also shoot many spring guns too, Weirauch, Diana, and Air Arms. Pellet pistols are fun too, Webley, Sheridan, Crosman. They all scratch the shooting itch and don't get you in trouble for shooting in the city since they're legal!

Make sure you keep a few pumps in them to keep the seals plump if they're not already dried out.

Happy shooting!

Fred

Nice find on the Blue Streak and Pellet Rifles. I’ve got a Sheridan Silver Streak in 5mm/20 cal. in the box that I bought in about 1985, best I remember. I ordered the Williams Peep Sight at the same time for it and installed it from day one. Pretty accurate for old school technology. I’ve got several BB and Pellet rifles that both my sons had growing up and they are from the 1970’s.

I got my first Sheridan air rifle when I was a kid. They were top notch back then and still have a strong following today.

I suspect yours would do well on eBay!

I remember going down to the river with our pellet guns (he had a Crossman, me with my Sheridan) tossing the bottles we found into the current and shooting them as the floated away, chasing them, jumping over brush, quick taking a knee, trying to get that kill shot. I love that hollow POP, then down she goes, recycled! I remember it well cause it was 2 days ago. I am still doing it 50 years later. When I stop plinking it's over. Hard to believe 2 old timers can have that much fun for the price of a couple dozen BBs and barely breaking any laws.

Sheridan 5MM

I still have my Sheridan Blue Streak from my childhood days, 54 years ago.

Shooting at 25 yards, what would be the standard/acceptable accuracy at that distance with 8-10 pumps?

I can't seem to beat an 8 inch group off a sandbag...

Not sure on that, but have you ever replaced any of the parts over the years? I have seen kits available for various pellet guns on eBay.

Fancy Wood Sheridan

Came across this one about 10 years ago. I think someone with some good stock making skills dressed it in AAA wood. Absolutely beautiful and still shoots great. Thought about selling over the years but one look and a few shots sends it back to the stable.

Good old school fun!

I bought my first non-Daisy air rifle when I was 12, early 1970s. Sheridan Blue Streak 5mm, neighbor's yard sale, $10. I only had $9. Sold! Foreshadowing many future gun shows. I still have it but have not shot it in decades, the seals are toast. I do remember it hit a lot harder than my buddies .177 Crosman pump rifle and was a pretty reliable squirrel slayer. Accuracy was only so-so. Anybody have a source for new seals? Would love to get it up and running again. Great thread!

I have a pump up Benjamin in '22 cal that I used 60yrs ago to hunt rabbits in the snow. As I recall it was quite effective. Couple years ago I had a squirrel problem that it cured. I think the barrel and pump tank are brass. It is wood
stocked. My Dad bot it for me & when I go my son gets it. Although not a pellet gun I also have a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun. Keeps unwanted birds from the feeder.

She's still all original. Even when not in use, I generously kept all parts well lubricated.

Those guys are all likely going to need seals, and re-lubed, at a minimum.
Thee outlet for that work, and perhaps they'd even consign them for you (I don't know) is,
https://www.bakerairguns.com/

I just got off the phone with Mike at Baker Air Guns and he has seals in stock for both the Crosman 102 and 140 as well as the tool needed to do the job.

The 140 is holding air currently but I am sure new seals would be an improvement.

The 102 is not holding air.

I am certainly not an air rifle guy and these guns have all been in the basement of an old friends house for many years.....would be good to get them freshened up and back in service.....AND find then all new homes!!

I revived shooting airguns during the pandemic shutdown and have collected some of the new ones since then.

Of course I still have the Sheridan, Crossman 760, and Gamo Cadet from the 80's that I learned to shoot with, but when my Dad passed away I found a few things that he had collected. Here are some of the older pistols that I guess are considered rare these days by the other members of the airgun Facebook group that I joined, although a part of the uniqueness is they all still work and are pretty much complete.

Back when younger, a friend and I spent many days in the woods shooting our pellet rifles. I had the Crossman and he the Sheridan. His max amount of pumps was 8 and my Crossman was 10. His was way more powerful especially with a 5mm heavier pellet per bird. Most of the time he used 6 pumps. Came close to buying a Sheridan but don’t really have a use for it. Good luck selling them Tom, you fall into some good deals. Did it warm up in Salmon??

Have a Daisy 777, I found it unfired 10 yrs ago. Fun in the basement at 10 meters. Nice accurate gun.

Are 5mm pellets still available? Especially the ones like Sheridan sold yrs ago? Larry
