Anybody else buying cheap stacking deep

I have more of everything I will likely use in my life time. Didn't really need any more powder but before the pandemic I lucked into an 8lb jug of 700X for just over $100 so I bought it any way.

How much I have is irreverent. I wish I had bought more 10 or 20 years ago. I feel like now is the good old days and time to stock up. Diesel is going up, taxes are going up, the cost of raw materials is going up. I seriously doubt that ammo will be cheaper than it is today. I am buying and expect to look back in two years and smile.

I bought a total of 19,000 rds 9mm in 2004 for an average $.08/rd. That was gone 10 years later. I bought 6,000 rds in 2008 for $.11/rd. That was gone 10 years later. I bought 5,000 rds in 2012 for $.13/rd in 2012, that was gone 5 years later. I bought 5,000 rds in 2017-19 for $.17/ rd, working on that now. Buying now at $.24/rd, marking mo/yr on 'em so as to use oldest 1st. There's a pattern somewhere in this. I do sell 25% of my stash during "panics" to recoup my costs somewhat and to allow "one extra box on hand" friends opportunity to shoot. Joe

In a word yes. I reload and am fairly well fixed for components but would buy select more when available.
I am buying 22. I did not really need any but finding it at 6 cents a pop I am buying and stacking. At age 70 I would rather the estate sale be impressive in terms of ammo than to run out of 22.
This election cycle coming is giving me bad feelings about a lot of things and ammo is one of them.
Buy now or cry later I think.

Don't blame you guys! Have found the price of ammo ridiculous especially at shops like Bass Pro Shop. Wanted $18 for 22 mag per 50. Hard to believe $.59 back in 66 is now $5.59!! Won't get into the centerfire prices as am sure you already know.

According to the BLS CPI Inflation calculator $0.59 in August of 1966 is now $5.54 so that's actually dead on!

When we think about prices we neglect to remember that the minimum wage was $1.25/hr. and $5.00 an hour in 1966 was a really good wage. The minimum wage today should be about $12 if one applies the same inflation calculation.

Lately based on ammo supply and prices I’ve been migrating toward 9mm.
Have recently bought 2 - 9mm Pistolas.
A Glock 43x and a SIG 365 X Macro.
Really like the SIG! May buy another one.

Aim surplus has standard velocity CCI 40 G RN lead for 3.39 per 50. Cheapest I have seen for awhile. I went ahead and added a couple of cases. I should never have to by 22 LR again in this lifetime. I have enough 9MM, 45 ACP, 357, 44 and 223/5.56 factory for now. I have enough components to load a bunch more when needed.

I have come to the conclusion that this is near the bottom of the market, so now I will be an opportunistic buyer.

I've been stacking since 2008. I vowed to never get caught with my pants down again. Even then, I had components stacked. I'm just now going through primers that I bought in the 80s. I can probably stop buying them, at that rate, I'm good 'till I'm 100.

I am about to jump onto the band wagon.

Winchester 200 115gr fmj at $56.99
Blazer (alum) 50 115 fmj at 13.99

both at .28 cent a round.

So very close to my moth ridden wallet !!

The local farm store has bricks of 500 rounds of 22 LR HP for 19.99 but it is Armscor brand. I had some of it in the past with no real problems with it but nothing recently. Anyone have any reports on current Armscor? I did have some armscor 22 mag that essentially sucked some years back. But I've had some CCI SV in the last year that had a few issues by not firing...at least on first try...5 in my M-41 2 in my pre 18...for 4 cents it can be a good buy!

Edited...heck I'm going to have to try at least a couple bricks I guess.

Just got done looking at their ads. They also have Blazer Brass 124 gr 9mm for 12.99. I am going to scarf 10 boxes. I don't shoot that much 9s but I'm at the point that I think we are seeing the bottom pricing on ammo right about now...except maybe Black Friday pricing or something...but there is 4% tax

I don't work for these guys but I have been buying from them for 10 years. 100% customer satisfaction.
I did go the $95 "Prime membership" deal which gets the ammo to my door for the "non-member" price. 750 rds Win NATO 9mm and 3250 rds Fed CPHP, free ship for full cases. A couple bucks over $400 (they collect your state's Sales tax and $6/ "overbox, discreet. Joe

I am stocked with enough ammo and components to last past my expiration date, but today I got an email from my friendly neighborhood reloading supplier and it seems that Hornady is finally starting to ship 7mm PRC brass. Placed my order and will drive the hour or so to pick it up Thursday. An hour or so is what passes for the neighborhood around this little slice of heaven.

If I didn't reload would be buying when prices drop. Never a bad idea if you can buy and still pay the bills too...

FYI I am hearing rumblings on the net that events in the middle east have started ammo panic buying. Those on the fence may want to look soon. In this volatile world who knows what tomorrow will bring
