Anybody else buying cheap stacking deep

Some ammo prices are down a bit at retail stores. But I was shocked to see a box of 20, 30.06 listed @ $41.95!!!! Outrageous.

The Fin Feather Fur stores (northern Ohio-6 stores) has Federal 10mm ammo AE10A 180gr FMJ 50rd boxes on sale for 19.99 (reg 37.99), no limit, sale ends Oct.28. I bought a case. It would cost that much to reload with the price of components.
Also on sale Norma 380acp fmj 50rd box for 12.99 (reg 19.99).

Primers may be going back to being unobtanium as the ammo plants quickly ramp up for producing lots of military ammo to replace what we have foolishly given away, and abandoned in Afghanistan.
This would affect all calibers including rimfire since the priority would be filling new military contracts.

I am going to load up on more rimfire this week.

.22 LR is plentiful and reasonably priced compared to a few years ago . I have a lifetime supply stashed away .

I got a "note" from my OEM supplier regarding Large Rifle primers. Seems that pistol primers are plentiful but LRP are slow to be delivered in quantity.Could be hunting rifle ammunition is eating up availability of primers, perhaps military using more. Not saying I know why. I'm pretty well stocked but never have too much.

I saw a few threads on another forum that ammo suppliers said in light of recent events, ammo orders are going through the roof and prices will be rising accordingly.

just scored 5k rounds of Aquila Super Extra .22LR for just under $250 delivered, so a wee bit under 5 cents a round. Should cycle beautifully in my Ruger pistols, and be just subsonic. $2.09/50

Flash Deal at Ammo Planet.

I have plenty of .22 already, but if push comes to shove, I'll get a .22LR AR upper. Now if I could just find a deal on .17 HMR.

Aquila won't cycle in my MKII. Hope you have better luck then I did. I tried several brands and decided CCI SV was want it wanted. Like you, I bought a case for about that same price, but that was about 5 years ago. No CCI deals like that around anymore that I can find.

.22 LR is still relatively cheap and it's hard to say you have enough. I have a LOT of HV .22 LR but I decided to grab some more SV while it is still reasonable. My experience with Aguila 40 gr SV is that is equal to CCI SV in accuracy and very consistent. So I bought half a case,2500 rds to my door for $163.50. That's $3.27 a box to my door rather than having to go out looking for ammo. That's worth something at my age. Aguila is not generally available at stores in this area and I will not buy Armscor. I think Aguila is subsonic, as is CCI so I like that also.

Foundry Outdoors, found on Ammo seek. Cheap to buy, no sales tax added but with a very high FEDX shipping charge. So it really comes to the bottom line, what you actually pay. Best deal I found for Aguila SV .22 LR. Forgot to mention, shipped the next day after I bought it :)

When I compete in less formal or lower level rimfire Bullseye pistol matches, about 50% CCI SV, 40+% Aguila super extra or SV, and the rest mixed, but at least one CCI mini mag in a Ruger Mark. I do fine with AutoMatch, as my pistol barrels are 5.5" or 4"

I can always smell the Eley priming compound on the line, even with the HEPA blowers running.

I've been using SGAmmo when he has deals. Always free shipping with a $200 purchase.

Like pasound I've been buying mostly from SGAmmo too. I guess I have enough 9mm and .22LR to last a lifetime, I'm a geezer.

But a lot of my .22 ammo is bulk for shortage purposes. I have probably enough of my standard practice load (CCI SV) to last but due to cost the high end match ammo is lacking. In .38 spl. I really like wadcutters. That too is hard to find and expensive. I have enough 132 gr. FMJ but it's not ideal.

So I still go in search of Eley Match and Fiocchi wadcutters. Otherwise I'm OK.

Foundry Outdoors that I bought from was $18.30/500 in 50 rd boxes a few days ago when I bought my 2500 rds. Details, details create the bottom line. Taxes? Shipping costs? The bottom line is the charge to your card. Still listed today for the same price. Also show the 40 gr plated HV for the same price. Best deal that I've seen :)

I always buy when it’s relatively good prices, almost regardless of need. As someone who was once on the short end of an ammo panic (2012), I promised to not do that again. I always tell my friends, in the short term there will be minor price rises and dips, but long term the price of ammo will always rise. And it damn near lasts forever w/ little care, why not always be stocking up?

Where is this "cheap" you speak of?

It is a "term of relativity." 20 years ago a box of 50 9mm 115 gr ball was $3.88/box. Relatively cheap (I'm using cheap as a synonym for "relatively affordable"). Actually it was "massively cheap" with a $6 figure Pharma Rep income. 8 years later $ 6 was cheap. 8 years later $8.50 was cheap. Today, $13/box 50 dropped on the porch is cheap. Since I retired, for some unexplainable reason, my ammo budget seems to allow a small purchase most every month. Did my banking this morning (for their own unexplainable reason SS been paying the Friday before the 3rd Wednesday, usual payday) and enough for a 500 rd "half case" magically appeared. That never seemed to happen when I was working. Should be here by the end of the week. Joe

Was looking at Scheel's ads and they had some primers...only allow 1brick of each so I bought 4000 2 small pistol 2 small rifle just shy of 60 dollars per.... pick up tomorrow. LR all gone LP too..

That was 1 brick of each brand
