Hi all,

I have a .38 hand ejector model of 1905 4th change. It is a project gun and a shooter. It's from around 1919-1922.

Anyway, I have been slowly ordering parts from numrich's and I'd have great luck getting the correct parts for this model.

Unfortunately, numrich's deosen't have the correct hand for this model. My hand is .094-.095" wide at the "tooth" and I'm looking for a new hand that is wider. My timing isn't really bad, but the cylinder stop won't fall into the slot for it if there is any friction on the cylinder. If there is no friction on the cylinder, It works just fine.

So if anybody out there might have a hand that's wider than mine or might know where I could get one, I would appreciate it greatly.

Adam,

If it's that close, just pull the cylinder and with a flat tip punch, gently tap each one of the cylinder nothes once on the rear surface of the notch above where it is contacted by the hand. The notch is what wears. I've fixed your specific problem many times that way and it'll be a long time before it needs it again.

Yes, it is that close.

I guess I have been having too much fun fitting parts

Fitting a hand to the gun seemed like the "fun" way to go.

But I think I'll fix it like you were saying. Thanks Jim.

Hi everyone,

I just tried Jim aka Hondo44's method of peening the extractor notches just a touch. That worked great and took up the little width that was needed.

I will contact oldwestgunsmith.com and Jack First Parts and see if they have an extra hand anyways. Actually, I might order a bunch of parts to have on "hand" <- pun intended

Thanks a bunch!!!
