Does anybody know anything about idiot lights on a 2015 Dodge Caravan? The 'low tire' light came on. I pumped it up. The manual sez that the light will go out in about 20 minutes of driving. This was, like Saturday, and I've driven a lot more than 20 minutes but the light is still on.

How many miles are on It? The tps sensors that are part of the valve stems have batteries sealed within them and usually only last between 50 and 75 thousand miles then need to be replace. Your vehicle is only 2 years old though(unless you have high mileage) at roughly 5 to 7 years the batteries will die leaving the sensor unable to send a signal and the light will remain on.

Another pitfall you may experience is that the sensor is telling you "front right tire" when in reality, because you rotated your tires (and didn't update your TPMS as to their location), you are actually measuring and filling a tire that is NOT the one your TPMS is telling you needs attention.

Had one fail around 76K so replaced them all .. had other stuff done at the same time and don't remember what the cost was but don't remember it being to bad .. that was a few years ago .. when they first came out ..

Bring your tire pressures to 40lbs and leave like that for the twenty minutes or so. If it is not defective it should go out, then bring them down to the correct pressures.

Mine comes on every year about this time due to temperature drops (we sometimes get down to single digits about the first of Nov.) I fill all of them back up and they'll be fine. Trouble is no one has "free" air anymore.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but I'll go ask my next door neighbor who's pretty much of an idiot, and get back to you.

Redneck Engineering: Place a 1/2inch square piece of black electrical tape over the offensive
idiot light. After the fifth idiot light comes on, remove the other four pieces of tape and your dash will be lit year round like a Christmas Tree.
Beautiful... simply beautiful!

Now that's chooglin' 😝

Or you could do like we do on my wife's car. It stays on and we ignore it. All four needed replacing but it wasn't worth what it was going to cost IMHO. Just make sure to check your tire pressure every once in a while, like we have done for the past 100 years or so. If the light bugs you, remove the bulb.

"Don't forget about the spare tire. I had to inflate mine to get the light to go out."

I had the same experience. There is only one low pressure light on the dash of my Mazda, so there is no way to tell which tire has the low pressure and is triggering the light.

I think I would rather go back to having no tire pressure sensors.

While living in Asia for 20 years I owned a Hyundai Avante(Elantra in the US) and for 15 of the 16 years I owned the car the 'Check Engine' light stayed on.

Back here in the US my 2014 Chevy Cruze tire pressure warning light goes on and off with a mind of it's own.

My leased Mazda CX-5 thankfully has had no issues. It's getting near time to give it back?

What they said are the two most likely culprits. The other is you have a nail or other object in the tire causing it to leak before you get to the 20 mile mark, but I think it's one of the 2 above.

Put a piece of black electrical tape over it then you won't see it! ;)
My bet bad sensor inside the tyre!

I had an Isuzu Trooper and the check engine light used to drive me nuts. Threw in a can of carb cleaner and after about twenty minutes of driving it went out. Maybe had a dirty sensor and the cleaned did what it is supposed to. My youngest daughter had bought another used car for graduate school in Texas. Nothing but problems. So she sold it and asked if she could have the trooper. Had to get it reinsured and transfer the title in her name. one thing she complained was the gas milage. had to remind her that the trooper was actually built on a truck frame and weighed more than her old car. Her husband got caught cheating on her so the 1 year marriage was toast. She finished her schooling with a masters and then gave the trooper away after she bought another car. Had about 150,000 miles on the clock and if it didn't get flooded due to Harvey may yet still be on the road. Frank

My 2014 Dodge Caravan gave me a low tire pressure reading. I pumped up the tire and the light stayed on so I checked the manual for some sort of 'reset'. It says that it will go out after about 20 minutes of driving. That was a week ago and the light is still on. The tire was low, so as far as I know the tire pressure sensor is working.
